BSOD Help Please - Windows 7 x64 SP1

Hi -

12 of the 18 BSODs were VERIFIER_ENABLED - bugcheck 0xc4

4 named -
Code:
[font=lucida console]FGUARD64.SYS             Mon Jan  7 14:30:07 2008 (47827DBF)[/font]
http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=FGUARD64.SYS

The other 8 VERIFIER_ENABLED dumps named Microsoft OS drivers, which is indicative of hardware failure.

5 other BSODs had bugcheck = 0x109 = kernel corruption

The 18th BSOD had bugcheck = 0xc0000005 = memory access violation

The 0x109 bugchecks indicate RAM failure - RAM's inability to properly hold kernel code

ntfs.sys was also mentioned - HDD/SSD failure

Uninstall the app associated with fguard.sys

You have both Avast & AVG installed - remove them with removal tool -

http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN146

Reboot upon completion. Install Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE)

Run memtest86+ - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/3909-test-ram-memtest86.html

Run HDD Diags - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/4072-hard-drive-hdd-diagnostics.html

Uninstall the app associated with fguard.sys
Hi,

fguard.sys belongs to (from what I can tell) a program called Folder Guard. Do you use this program/have it installed?

Whilst I'm here, I have one or two recommendations for you.

Remove the following software:
Code:
System Mechanic Professional
Wise Registry Cleaner Free
The System Machanic and Wise Registry Cleaner software are both registry cleaners/optimisers. As well as personally having a very bad experience with System Machanic, most people here do not recommend the use of automatic optimisation tools for Windows 7. Microsoft have improved Windows 7 significantly and it is much better at organising and optimising itself than its predecessors. Windows 7 is not XP. Automated optimisation software can delete important registry entries that can cause multiple problems with windows 7. The use of such software can result in Windows corruption and other issues. I have personally experienced issues on two PC's that had System Mechanic run on them, resulting in the need for a clean install. Now, I am not saying you will have the same issues as I did, but the potential for such issues is there.

Also, something interesting, you have both AVG and AVAST installed at the same time (bad move), but none are set to run at startup. A/V software should run at boot to ensure it is running and protecting you from viruses/malware all the time your PC is on. Am I correct in saying that none boot at startup? I could be wrong there.

Regarding your BSOD's, I agree with the above. I feel that a RAM issue is the most likely culprit, but it might not be. Run Memtest86+ as suggested above.

Stephen
