Last 20 years of work, did programming/app dev/systems implementation & integration/ db mgnt/. Disabled/Retired in 2012. This December, will celebrate 39th year of marriage to same woman who is today even more beautiful than the day we wed. 4 loving, attentive, close (proximal and emotional) kids. Youngest 27. Oldest 38. All grown, all gone to begin with. 3 cats. Small, old farm house on 1 acre of lawn, at dead end of mile-long gravel road. Closest neighbor's barely visible buildings .5+ miles away, visible on a clear day if you know just where to look. Surrounded on 3 sides by bare fields in winter. Someone else's corn or beans, alternating, the rest of the year. 4th side is timber/woods. 500 yards from the Iowa River. A good place for souls to call home.

As for why I'm here, yes, I have done my best to do bits and pieces of IT software work, but I was never rising star at any employer. I looked old, so it was just always assumed I'd be best at legacy work. But whatever it was that I did all those years, it did very little to learn me anything useful about my own computer, Windows, etc. I know enough to cause the sorts of problems I am thereafter forced to ask others to fix.
