[SOLVED] Server 2019 Windows update error (0x80073712)

Hello,

just read about another person that had this problem. And one of your users "Maxstar"
rebuilt the registry to fix this problem. I saw that those fixes were for THAT system alone
so I would very much appreciate if he could do the same for me. I have 2 Windows 2019
servers. They are both installed in Swedish language. One is working perfectly while the
other won't install Windows Cumulative updates. Other updates install fine.
Plz let me know what you need from me.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Export CBS (Component Based Servicing) hive

Click on the Start button and type regedit
When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing
```
Once selected, click File > Export....
Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*).
Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and choose Send > Compressed (zipped) Folder.
Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi,

Step 1. Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.

Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Reboot the server and run

ComponentsScanner again.

Right-click ComponentsScanner.exe and select "Run as administrator", click Yes on the UAC (User Account Control) prompt which appears.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Once complete, a report will be saved to your desktop called ComponentsScanner.txt.
Post the logfile ComponentsScanner.txt as attachment into your next reply.

You are frikkin amazing Maxstar!!! I ran an update and it worked!
Says computer now has the latest updates. I've had this problem
for quite some time and tried all the dism and sfc and what not and
nothing worked. I was contemplating a reinstall. Thank you sooooo
much again. I will donate!!!!
