[SOLVED] Windows update error 0x8007371b for Windows 10

Hi,

I'm trying to download/install Windows Update (2024-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5043064)) on my PC Windows 10 Version 22H2 64-bit. But the updating process was failed with the following error:

Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007000d)

and some other time, I got the following error:

There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x8007371b)


I tried the following actions with no success:

  1. I ran:
    • chkdsk /f
    • sfc /scannow
    • DISM /online /cleanup-image /ResoreHealth

      .. all failed
  2. I downloaded that KB and installed it manually.. failed

  3. I followed the below commands:
    • net stop bits
    • net stop wuauserv
    • net stop cryptsvc
    • ren %systemroot%\softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.bak
    • ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
    • net start bits
    • net start wuauserv
    • net start cryptsvc

      .. failed
  4. I tried to uninstall the last cumulative Windows Update which was 2024-04 (KB5036982).. failed

In continuing to the previous post, and as per the Posting Instructions, I ran the following commands:

sfc /scannow
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
ComponenetScanner

Then I collected the logs (CSB & ComponentsScanner) and attached them.

Crystal DiskInfo and save it to your Desktop.
  • Run the installer to install the program.
  • When finished, open the installed program by double clicking on it.
    • Good - There are no problems found, the drive is working properly.
    • Caution - The drive have some problems. (which indicates a drive that you should most likely be thinking about backing up and replacing.)
    • Bad - This usually indicates a drive that’s dead or near death. (! - Back up all important data as soon as possible.)
  • Resize the window so that all information is visible.
  • Take a screenshot of what you see and post it in your next reply.

Hi,

  • Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards.
    Code:
    chkdsk
  • Wait for this to complete.

  • Rightclick ListChkdskResult.exe and select Run as administrator.
  • Notepad will open the file ListChkdskResult.txt on completion. (This logfile ListChkdskResult.txt is also saved on your desktop.)

I ran chkdsk command, and after completion I ran ListChkdskResult.exe but nothing happened; no notepad displayed with a result or saved on the desktop, also the downloaded file disappeared. I re-downloaded the file again, but same result.

This looks good, so what do you mean with chkdsk /f ...all failed as mentioned in the first post?
 
Sorry maybe I misexpressed this, I meant, even when I ran all the mentioned commands (chkdsk, sfc & dism [which all were ran successfully]) but still I couldn't get the Windows Update (2024-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5043064)), it is giving me the following error:

Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007000d)

Ah, that explains a lot!

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

I followed the steps for the SFCFix, and attached SFCFix.txt as instructed.

Then I re-ran the update again, the mentioned update has been applied smoothly like a charm.. Wow

I wish if you can give me a clue about how it worked, I will be much appreciated.

You're welcome. Glad to hear the issue has been resolved, but it is quite complicated to describe the resolution in a few words, as well as such hydration issues may differ in each case!
