[SOLVED] Windows 11, Image Files Are Missing

Please provide the CBS logs, to look at error 0x800f081f - maybe it involves only some missing files or remnants into the registry.

Upload a copy of the CBS folder
  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply. If the file is too large to attach, upload the CBS.zip file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.
 
1. The missing file is a part of an very early preview build (22621.607) KB5017389
2. Your system is up-to-date; Platform: Microsoft Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 22631.4169

So please do the following:

1. Start the

Command Prompt as administrator.
  • Open the startmenu and type the command cmd.
  • After you find the Command Prompt, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt and press enter.

reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
2.Right-click on the file

FRST.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following (code) into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.

  • When the scan is complete, a message will display that SearchReg.txt is saved in the same folder FRST was started from.
  • Post the logfile SearchReg.txt as attachment in your next reply.
 
I'll need to rebuild an VM to see if I can find the missing file?

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.


Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.

Yes, you'll need to run it in an elevated command prompt.

Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command and press enter.

This looks good, please attempt to update again to see if an new .NET framework update is available?

Only a preview update is available, but there is no need to install such updates. They are just beta releases of the upcoming Cumulative Update which will be relesed on Patch Tuesday.

But if everything is up and running we can mark this thread as solved.
