I'm having issues on this server where updates are not installing anymore.

I tried the usual troubleshooting steps with no luck.

I followed the instructions in this forum and attached you will find the logs from componentscanner and CBS.

Any help is much appreciated

I need to have a look at your Components hive file, so can you please do the following ....

  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • The file will likely be too large to upload here, if so please upload to a file sharing service.
  • Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline

Please post me the link to the file

Been called out, so going to be out for the next few hours, and will look over your file as soon as I get back.

Sorry for the delay.

Please try updating your machine.

If successful please let me know.

If the update fails (and I expect it may), then please post me the .... C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log .... created after the update attempt.

Few things showing in your latest log. However, it's getting late here, and I'm going to have to update a virtual machine to source what I need, so it will probably be sometime tomorrow before I get back to you (my time GMT+1) hopefully in the morning.

We do have a training school here at Sysnative .... Learn How to Fix Windows Update: The Sysnative Windows Update Academy .... howeverit's aimed at people who want to help in the forums rather than those just wanting to train for personal and/or professional reasons.

I'm also unsure whether we're taking on new trainees at the moment.

Looking over your latest logs now, will get back to you as soon as I've finished.

I wouldn't mind helping out in the forum, it's always a good idea to help people.

Attached are the files.

Always good to have new helpers. So I advise you to apply for the course using the link I provided in my earlier post. As I said, I'm unsure whether we're actually taking on trainees at the moment, but the people running it will be able to advise you better than I can.

So that said, there's a couple of things being flagged in your latest log, that we partially fixed earlier (we replaced the manifest files), but looks like their corresponding Registry entries weren't present either, so that's what we're now going to patch.
