Hi,
this is my first post here :)
Read some posts and must say that you have an awesome community.

Maybe you can help me out with my windows update errors, too.

Attached all relevant logs.
Windows update does not display an error code.
Server is running MS Hyper-V Role.

Thank you!

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Open an elevated prompt and run diskmgmt.msc and post a screenshot of this window, it seems your System Reserved partition is running out of free space.

Hi,

Please provide a screenshot of the complete window, just to check the free space of the SRP partition.

It seems the 451 MB partition should be or looks like the System Reserved partition? Is this server recently migrated to another environment or MBR / GPT conversion?

You already helped me by finding the log entry Boot File Servicing (BFSVC) Installer ({c5f0e9d7-e844-4507-89e4-701b5a747221}) with HRESULT HRESULT_FROM_WIN32(ERROR_DISK_FULL).

It´s working now after freeing up space there.

The disk management did not display it correctly.
I mounted it with diskpart and found a a nearly full partition with a backup folder of the veeam backup software.

I think SRP was automatically and accidentially mounted after a migration from hdd to ssd and it took the drive letter, that the rotated rdx media was using.
So Veeam used it as backup target, which caused my problem in the end.

Do you know why windows update needs space on this partition?

Great, and yes, third-party backup software could be an issue in such cases. The System Reserve Partition (SRP) is normally only a small parition (500 MB) to store boot data for Windows. However, some third-party apps are using this partition as well and can fill it up without the necessary cleanup for old data!

Windows Update is using this parition on each Patch Tuesday and will run a sheduled task to verify the Windows Recovery Environment. So if this parition is running out of space bacause it is also used by third-party software it will fail and causing rollbacks.
