Hi there,

Windows Server 2019 OS Build 17763.5579

Unable to install any CU.

I have run through the recommended steps and have also tried DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:\\server\c$\Windows\WinSxS\ /LimitAccess but it comes back with:
(the source is accessible through Explorer)

DISM erroe.jpg

Attempted manual install of:

2024-04 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based Systems (KB5036896) – failed

2024-02 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based Systems (KB5034768) – not applicable to this computer

2024-03 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based Systems (KB5037425) – already installed

2021-08 Servicing Stack Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based Systems (KB5005112) (pre-req for LCU’s) – worked!

2024-04 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based Systems (KB5036896) retry after KB5005112 - failed

2024-09 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 for x64-based Systems (KB5043050) – failed

Please see attached files.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Many thanks.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi Maxstar,

Thanks for your reply. It's not letting me access so I'll arrange a reboot (it's a production server) and upload ASAP.

In the meantime, some information that may help...

One of my colleges has been doing a bit more research and it seems like there is an issue with this file:

amd64_microsoft-windows-d..services-core-files_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.17763.5933_none_dd3a1ad1f8fa3cd2\r\ntdskcc.dll

The reason it can’t fix it, is that the sources we’re using as a replacement (other Server 2019 etc) don’t have this file.

They all have other versions, one version higher, one version lower, but not build 5933.

Hi,

I don't see any issues for that component in the CBS log, only the following error!
