Hello there, Ill dive right in..

I used a third party driver updater and it messed up some of my drivers..
(the other issue is about the mouse right click -only works sometimes now (HID drivers issue I suspect) , but ill save that for another post..)

One of my USB removable drive is not recognized after that incident so I tried in my other PC and there were no issues..

I assume some badly written drivers have replaced the original ones.. But I have no Idea how to tackle the issue, since in Device Manager,
Everything seems fine.

When I insert the drive it does not get recognized even in Disk Management, However in Device Manager I can see one additional "Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller" is added.

Unfortunately I do not have a suitable system restore point, also I tried reinstalling my hardware drivers, specifically Intel's SATA AHCI controllers..

I also tried searching the internet , for maybe, someone with my same issue but search results were unhelpful, at least in my own case..

I don't know if this issue possibly could be fixed automatically by a tool I might not know of , or through manual means..

I appreciate any ideas or methods that will be recommended, since I am thoroughly stumped..

Please don't use these types of programs again as you have learned the hard way.

Let's start by identifying your system.

Download Speccy

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot dialog box. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

You need the HW specs of my regular old laptop pc?
Forgive me, but i just don’t see the point..
It is obviously a Windows issue..

I need a Speccy of the PC you are having issues with.

Speccy shows much more than just hardware.

It shows, Hardware, temps, Machine variables, Power Profile, Services, Processes, and a bunch of stuff I can use to diagnose— nothing personally identifiable. Speccy tells me much more than you can convey to me in a question-answer session.

Here is mine:

If you still don't want to upload, I understand. Refusing to follow my directions will inhibit my ability to help.

Ill post it later when i get home..

As a side note, I wanted to point out that other external hard drives are working but this one was partitioned and formatted on another W11 pc with gpt, my pc is W10 (MBR not GPT) (I don’t think the system partition table type matters in regards to compatibility though..)

This one also uses a SATA to USB connector..

I have great news..
A while back , i had fiddled with the “Universal serial bus controllers” trying to fix something.. then I forgot about it..
Turns out that was the cause of my issue..

All i did was uninstall these and let them automatically reconfigure;

“Generic usb”
“Usb composite device”
“Usb root hub”

I feel better now.. Thanks..

This was like a therapy session for a Windows user, it enabled me to reflect upon myself in order to fix my issues.. :)
