[SOLVED] Windows 11 23h2 22631.4391 dont clean update cache

hi, if I cant do this please move to right threat.

recently I use the SFCFix to fix the system, is fine now, its work and update.

but the cache update dont clean, its start from 400mb, up to 700mb and 1gb...its growing before I run "Windows Update" and have one KB.

I use the "disk cleanup" and Settings->System->Storage->Temporary Files->Delete does not work.

How to clean the Windows Update cache?

Try and use the following from an elevated (administrative) command prompt:

Code: 
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

It does the same the option you selected with disk cleanup but should return an error message at least if it fails.
 
I run with admin cmd:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

Afterwards, please run the same DISM command as you did before and let me know if it fails again.

the issue persist before reboot, update have 1gb. :poop:

but the cmd is very fast. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

Could you please provide your COMPONENTS hive and CBS subkey as a hive file using the following instructions:

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or WeTransfer and then just provide the link in your reply.

Export CBS hive
  • Click on the Start button and in the search box, type regedit
  • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing
  • Once selected, click File > Export....
  • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (.).
  • Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on the saved file and choose Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload to Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace and just provide the link here.
 
I found!
For anyone who can help, here is the solution:

to force 24h2 update, you need go run GPEDIT.MSC Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage updates offered from Windows Update

need to change to "Enabled" put "Windows 11" and "24H2" on the text box after reboot system:

after reboot the update show:

now need to update some itens, after update (it take me around 1h) you able to clean the "update cache", now I have this:

its clean around 8Gb in system.


other adjust I make is about "lock screen", its change daily but not work, I need make this change:

I go to this folder

%USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\Settings

and delete all files, now the "lock screen" changed daily.
