Hello everyone,

In our update routine today, 1 server refuses to update. Error: 0x80070003 at KB 5046615

The usual measures SFC, DISM, show no errors and I am slowly running out of ideas

Many thanks in advance

Hi @eilekeitzje,

Welcome to Sysnative Forums!

If you haven't already, please review the posting instructions here, and attach the requested log files. Without log files, our helpers will not be able to assist, and this will slow down fixing your machine.

If logs have been already been provided, our team of volunteers will analyse the provided log files to build a fix for your system. Please be aware that this may take several days from your initial post, due to the high volume of threads that we receive.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload the setupapi.dev.log file
  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\INF folder.
  • Right-click on the file setupapi.dev.log and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Attach the file setupapi.dev.zip in your next reply.

Hi,

Download
67139f7e69a58-SFCFix-ico.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards attempt to update again. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log and the Setupapi.dev.log.

Hi,

It worked, thank you very much. The tip with the setupapi.de.log was worth its weight in gold.

Did I miss something in the logs, how did you get the idea to ask for the log file?

Best regards

Hi,

You're welcome. Glad to hear the issue has been resolved.

Code:
2024-11-29 01:27:30, Info CBS Failed installing driver updates [HRESULT = 0x80070003 - ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND]
2024-11-29 01:27:30, Error CBS Startup: Failed while processing non-critical driver operations queue. [HRESULT = 0x80070003 - ERROR_PATH_NOT_FOUND]

The excerpt above indicates a driver issue, so that's the reason why I asked for the Setupapi.dev.log.
