Hello,

I have a Terminal server VM in Azure running Windows Server 2016 Datacenter for a customer in production. Since September, all Windows updates are failing. I have tried several manipulations:
  1. install updates in executing safe boot.
  2. reinitialize Windows Updates by following this link Additional resources for Windows Update - Windows Client.
  3. do the updates manually from catalog
  4. SFC /ScanNow -> no errors DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth -> no errors

The problem remains the same "We couldn't complete the updates Undoing Changes Don't turn off your computer" see screenshot in attachment (sorry it's in French) Each time the server reboots to finish installation of the update it keeps rebootng at least 5 times because the update is reverted.

But I have found in this forum the root of my issue [SOLVED] - Have been unable to update Windows since December 20th, 2017

I join C:\Windows\Inf\setupapi.dev.log

>>> [Delete Device - HTREE\ROOT\0]
>>> Section start 2024/12/09 17:44:47.173
cmd: C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe
! dvi: Setting needs reboot
! dvi: Query-and-Remove failed: 0x13: CR_FAILURE.
!!! dvi: Unable to Uninstall the Device Instance
!!! dvi: Error 13: The data is invalid.
<<< Section end 2024/12/09 17:44:47.211
<<< [Exit status: FAILURE(0x0000000d)]

But I have no idea how to solve it, please help me.

Thanks

Welcome to Sysnative Forums!

If you haven't already, please review the posting instructions here, and attach the requested log files. Without log files, our helpers will not be able to assist, and this will slow down fixing your machine.

If logs have been already been provided, our team of volunteers will analyse the provided log files to build a fix for your system. Please be aware that this may take several days from your initial post, due to the high volume of threads that we receive.
