[SOLVED] Server 2016 - Cumulative Update KB5046612 fail (0x80070057)

Great, please attempt to update and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

At this point, I would like to thank @Maxstar very much for his help and for sorting out the system components responsible for the Windows Update service.

The KB5048671 update has been downloaded but it still has to wait until 17:30 for the required server restart. Then we will see if it will install correctly.

You're welcome. Glad to hear the update installed in awaiting for the restart, so let me know the result after the reboot.

Complete success. KB5048671 is visible in the system after restart as correctly installed. Additionally, I also managed to finally install .NET Framework 4.8 for developers correctly. Once again, thank you very much for your irreplaceable help.

You're welcome. Glad to hear everything is working well again, so I will mark this thread as solved... (y)

Weird thing, but only today I noticed that the start menu doesn't open.

Since December 13th in the logs Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational I see ID: 5990:

Activation of application Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy!App for contract Windows.Launch via contract helper failed. Error: Remote procedure call failed..

and 5961

Activation of the application Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy!App for the Windows.Launch contract failed. Error: Remote procedure call failed..

I solved the problem myself by copying the QuickActions.dll file from the C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-ui-shell-component_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.14393.2665_none_c32ddf8a653faec7 folder to the C:\Windows\ShellExperiences location

The old file had a different modification date of 04.03.2017 07:31 and I overwrote it with a file with a date of 30.04.2017 03:42. The old file also had permissions set to everyone full control.

I think everything is OK now.

Hi,

Please run the following System File Checker again and post the result, just to be sure there are remaining corruptions.
Code:
SFC /Scannow
