Hi everyone.

So I've been trying to update my Windows for a while now, but unfortunately, everything I tried didn't come out successfully. I even attempted to reinstall Windows using an ISO disc image, but this too proved unsuccessful. After the initial restart, the system starts updating, but it abruptly interrupts and restarts to the desktop, undoing the changes.

I have also tried SFC scans and DISM to fix the issue. The SFC scan gives me no errors, but when I run DISM/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth, it gives me an error saying that the source was not found. This issue persists even when I attempt to access the source from an ISO disc image. So now I'm really confused and honestly have no idea what to do. I opened the CBS logs, and there it says it found 985 CBS manifest corruptions with operation results: 0x800f081f.

I will attach my CBS log files and ComponentsScanner.txt here. If you require any additional information, I will gladly provide it to you.
Thank you in advance.

Thank you, Maxstar. I have tried the SFCFix and DISM command. It still gives me an error saying that the source was not found.

Logfile and new CBS log are attached.

The fix is working. The DISM command is running smoothly; after that, I restarted my PC.

My PC is doing a cumulative update now (KB5051974). I will update the progress after it finishes installing the update.

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hello! I did the fix, and the log is attached. I'm updating my Windows right now. I'll update the progress after it finishes updating.

Hi @Maxstar Thank you for assisting me through this issue. You're a big help! And I want to update you about it.

The problem is finally fixed! I did perform an in-place repair/upgrade because I noticed that the cumulative update always fails, but the security update is updating normally. And it worked!

After the repair, I did many Windows updates until the last update.

I don't know what caused it. I just want to share something that I think might be related to this. Before the issue appeared, I had replaced my CPU with a new one because it was dead. It could be causing Windows to corrupt, resulting in update failures. However, after the repair, everything seems to be running smoothly now, and I'm hopeful that the problem won't return. It's a relief to have my PC back in working condition, especially because I use it for both work and personal projects. In addition, I will make sure that all drivers and software are up to date to avoid any future problems.

Thank you again for your assistance. I appreciate your advice throughout the process. Thank you.

I will mark this thread as solved.

Hi,

Glad to hear to hear the in-place-upgrade resolved the issue this time without a rollback like before! And as you pointed out, bad 'hardware' like the CPU / Memory or HDD (SSD) could be cause such issues.

I can only suggest to make regular backups / system images, just to avoid such issues in the future. So you can restore the system quickly!
