Hi,

When did this problem arise, after a system crash, a failing hard drive etc...?
hi Maxstar

I installed Windows 10 on new hardware after upgrading, I didn't leave the old system, I installed programs, games, there were no failures. At first everything updated fine, but then, after a week, the update kb5051974 was not installed. I thought it would fix itself)) then I started looking for the cause of the error and came across your forum, where you helped solve the problem with error 0x80073701 during the update. That's all.

it turns out that this update was installed incorrectly, partially or something... why - it's not clear

Okay, but given the number of corruptions we have two options:

1. Fixing all the corruptions manually, but due to the number of corrupted components is this going to take a lot of time for us both.
2. The most effective way to resolve all the issues should be an in-place upgrade in this case.

So let me know what you prefer.

In-place upgrade
This will reinstall and update the operating system and fix any corruptions, without removing any file or program. But make always a backup of all your important data!
  • Go to this Microsoft page and under the title Create Windows 10 installation media press on Download tool now.
  • Save the tool on your Desktop and double click to run it.
  • On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
  • On the What do you want to do page, select Upgrade this PC now, and then select Next.
  • Follow the instructions and select Keep personal files and apps, when you are asked to.
  • It might take a couple of hours, depending on your internet speed connection, to install Windows 10. Your PC will restart a few times. Make sure you don’t turn off your PC.
  • After downloading and installing, the tool will walk you through how to set up Windows 10 on your PC.

So, there is no chance to fix a broken Windows update except by reinstalling it?

If it's not too much trouble for you, I would still try to fix it with fixes. But if it's convenient for you

Yes, but in this case there are so many corruptions that you should consider a repair install, and that's not a fresh install. It Will just repair the current version of Windows 10.

unfortunately, the recovery tool does not start, I googled it - apparently it is because Microsoft stopped working in Russia

Hi,

Please try the in-place-upgrade using the 22H2 ISO.

  • Mount the ISO and run the setup.exe file.
  • Follow the instructions and click on the option Change what to keep.
  • Select the option Keep personal files and apps and click next.
  • Windows Setup will now start the in-place upgrade installation to repair Windows.
