A brief description of your problem

Boot Issue:
More often than not, my PC doesn’t boot properly. The power button just blinks slowly (about every 1-2 seconds), and nothing happens. Sometimes it eventually starts, other times I have to force shut it down and try again. I’ve checked my motherboard’s manual (ASUS PRIME B650M-A WIFI) to see what the blinking power button indicates, but I can't find a clear explanation for the issue.
BSOD in Games (nvlddmkm): Every time I launch a game, my PC crashes with a BSOD. The dump file points to nvlddmkm.sys, which I know is related to NVIDIA drivers. What’s strange is that some days it works without any issues at all, but after a reboot, the problem comes back. I’ve tried reinstalling/updating drivers, but no luck so far.

No

Are you using Disk Image tools? (like daemon tools, alcohol 52% or 120%, virtual CloneDrive, roxio software)

No

Are you currently under/overclocking? Are there overclocking software installed on your system?

Underclocking with MSI afterburner
Troubleshooting Steps I've Tried:

  • GPU drivers: Done a clean install with DDU, tried multiple older driver versions.
  • Event Viewer logs: Checked for any critical errors but didn’t find anything obvious.
  • Hardware checks: Reseated most components, checked RAM modules together and one by one using Windows Memory Diagnostic and MemTest (no errors).
  • OS reinstall: Did a complete reinstall of Windows and all files, but the issues persist.
  • Driver integrity check: Checked my drivers for errors to ensure nothing is corrupted or missing.
  • Motherboard manual check: Followed my motherboard’s manual to understand the blinking power button, but I can't pinpoint the exact issue or found a solution from the information gathered.
  • Deep dive into nvlddmkm solutions: Gone through most of the internet on this issue—tried underclocking hardware, adjusting power settings, giving permissions to nvlddmkm.sys, and various other suggested fixes.

Hi!

1) Uninstall riot games (vgk.sys) with the aid of a program uninstaller (like iobit uninstaller free, wisecleaner program uninstaller, or your preferred uninstaller).
2) Disable or Enable Windows 10 Fast Startup (and Why)
3) Please let us know in the next couple of days if things have improved.
Thank you! I have done as you suggested although if this would to work I would need to find another addiction then League.
After restarting the computer my booting problem was still there and it took me about 6-7 tries for it to boot.
The games I've tried have not caused a BSOD yet but too early to tell as every other day it would work! I will return soon with another update!

I can't see that comment? 🤔

Not sure about the boot issue, but it could be the power button is damaged...?
It was on Techsupportforum where I was directed to post here :-)

I don't believe so as it has been working great and the case is just over a year old (Fractal torrent)
I´m mentioning it as it could be a result or cause of the BSOD, the file in question according to Windbg is the nvlddmkm nvidia driver. So bad nvidia driver = bad video = boot problems, that's my own thought process

How long have you had this problem for?

Could you remove the NVIDIA GPU physically from the motherboard and fallback to the AMD APU while troubleshooting so we can rule out the dedicated GPU.

I’ve checked my motherboard’s manual (ASUS PRIME B650M-A WIFI) to see what the blinking power button indicates
Can you describe this in more detail, like how often and how long any sound or blinking is happening for.

Hello again! For two days I did not run into any problems although the amount I was at the desktop was not much, either way once again my PC crashed after starting a game and displaying the same BSOD, so back to square one!

My booting problem started around the end of December and it feels like it just escalated more and more.
This asus website states:
I have followed all of the steps but have still not found the issue.
My motherboard does not support sound or LED troubleshooting, only trough the powerbutton
B. Power LED flashes slowly after power on, flashing once every 2 seconds (no VGA card or VGA card error)

1. Integrated Graphics(On-board) output is not normal. Please try to re-install the CPU

2. Add-on Graphics card display output is not normal :

a. Try to re-install Graphics card

b. Check for any dirt on the PCI-E Pin of motherboard or Graphics card Pin as shown in the below image. If so, please clean it and try again

I feel your pain regarding nvlddmkm, been dealing with it over a year (I have a thread here too) I'm leaning towards a dying GPU or RAM. In fact my system has totally locked up at boot a few times as well.

 It sucks.. My GPU is only a baby at 2 years and my ram like 3 years..

It does, driving me nuts. They are my two oldest components, had this system since January 2020 and they are original, so both just over 5 years old.

Mine has got worse over the past year, to the point I launch a game I can guarantee a crash. What happens to yours? Mine varies, sometimes my screen will lose signal and keyboard and mouse refuse to respond, but I've also just had a totally frozen image on screen. Most of the time in game, sometimes out of game and until recently it would happen 10 mins after quitting a game.

As soon as the game gets intensive enough i think, the pc just crashes and restarts.. If the game is working beyond the loading screen it usually means i get to play today lol.

New issue again today, my GPU crashed seemingly out of nowhere.

When i turned on my PC this morning it had crashed and i needed to install drivers again.
This happened once before but but did not think much of it.

To confirm, you have attempted removal of the GPU and only use the inbuilt GPU without success?
