posting here following a PM with niemiro

this problem was identified when trying to install drivers and s/w for brother QL-570 printer from the manufacturer CD

failed install picture at

then tried to fix

stop anti virus
stop firewall

removed and reinstalled .NET versions 1.1, 3.5, 4, 4.5
updated and verified

removed and reinstalled visual c++ 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012

then tried the QL-570 install again
same error

advice from niemiro

run SURT
post logs here

he said error isnt too drastic ......

SURT is running now will zip and add to thread when done

Windows update was trying apply a C++ KB and failed giving a 643 error
MSFixit50123 failed to repair it
prof google says its a .net error

ms .net framework verification tool says ok for 3.5, 4, 4.5, 4.51 and 4.5.2
 
SFCfix found some corrupt files it couldnt fix

Sorry for the delay in responding to you.

This might take a couple of rounds to get everything repaired.

lets start of with repairing some of these system files.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.

SFC /SCANNOW

  1. Click on the

    button. Inside the search box type in CMD
  2. Right click on CMD => Choose Run as Administrator
  3. Inside the Command Prompt windows copy and paste the following command SFC /SCANNOW
  4. Please wait for this to Finish before continuing with the rest of the steps.

Please run SURT again, once this has finished please upload the following:

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
  8. Attach this to your next post please.

Dont worry I haven't forgot about you :) It is just getting some of these files can often be a lot more work than normal, I need to set up a VM to install an update to gather these files.

i am finding more and more apps that a crapping out, evernote was the latest one
do you need to remote in ?
what about the time diff
i can setup teamviewer to give you remote access if you want

my daily backup app has now died giving a 0xc0150002 error on startup

I have checked the HDD and it seems ok....
The errors that are arising i believe are further knock on of the c++/.net broken files etc
My daily backup has been broken since this started (AOMEI bacckup) i do have an image from 10 days ago

I have been working using web apps other working apps and my linux partition....

i would have to manually find all the files created/modified since the last backup
find a way to copy them
restore from image
copy over the newer files...

we havent tried to fix the issue yet
the nmachine is still working and booting apart from the indicated errors...

please advise what action is the best/quickest/easiest
i await your recommendation/advice

Hello again :)

Can you please drop the following .zip file on top of SFCFix and see if there's any improvement? Please post the logfile. My hope is that this will resolve half of the remaining corruptions. We'll see. I'll put the other half through separately if this goes well.
