Try WIN KEY + X for a list of 'old' start menu items.

I myself click on Desktop as soon as tiles appear; keep CMD box pinned to Taskbar & type in the usual 'Start Menu' items as I did in Windows 7, e.g., compmgmt.msc; others - including CONTROL for C/P!
