[SOLVED] Awake from sleepmode black screen and no input possible for a while

I installed the original OS (vista home premium 64 bit) from the hidden partition ( pq )




only problem is when I let the pc in sleepmode, when I turn it on, screen stays black, and then finally after some time waiting, screen is ok, but keyboard and mouse don't work, until a few minutes later.


I disabled all no microsoft services and start apps, black screen is no more but instead the keyboard and mouse are not possible to use for a longer time.
 
After you did a factory restore, did you run all the 100s (1000s?) of updates via Windows Update?
 
That is the first thing i did. All updates are installed except one: video driver, i had to reverse to the old driver as i couldnt see the start button anymore ( image was not normal)
 
Couldn't see the start button sound like a resolution setting. Is this all the exact same hardware as from before the factory restore? And did sleep mode work as expected then?

Why did you do a factory restore?

Nothing from hardware is changed , same hardware devices in pc. I haven't used sleepmode when the video driver updated through windows update. But I followed the step in a thread on this website about how to do a recovery install or clean install of OS. it was advised to install the drivers that are on the website of pacakard bell (that is the pc I have), and not to install the drivers from the devices website (for instance nvidia dot com for videodriver).

But because packard bell has no recent driver of the videocard, would be a good thing to download the driver from the nvidia website?

I agree with this advice and that is because you never know if the PB (or any computer maker) has modified or customized the device for that system. If NVIDIA reports there is a new driver, you can try it, but make sure you create a system restore point before hand so you can roll back if needed.

What sleep mode have you selected? For PCs, hybrid mode is best. Never hibernation as that is for notebooks.
 
I used sleep mode, that is ok or no?

If I go to control panel to energy settings, I can see in sleepmode several options, one of them is 'allow hybride sleepmode : disbabled'

if I understand you correctly : I should enabled this option as hybrid sleepmode is best for pc's?

Added:

msconfig: normal mode (all services are enabled,also startup items)

I enable that option, went to sleepmmode (start sleepmode), then powered up the pc after it went to sleep.

I see my desktop immedetially (no black screen anymore), and mouse icon moves if I hit the mouse, but cannot click on anything and keyboard not responding. AFter a while, everything works.

tried it again, after 10 windows update happened

after waking up: I could select with my mouse and double click ,but program doesn't open. while keyboard doesn't react.
After a few seconds, white image ( I still see the desktop) and the mouse icon is a blue circle turning arround ... and cannot select any icon on my desktop anymore or click on it.

after 3 minutes the programm I cliced on opens and everything (keyboard and mouse) work again.

Yes.

That said, I am not sure this will have anything to do with your problems. It almost sounds like you factory restore didn't work right. :(
 
I reinstalled the OS using the hidden partition, with a app named ptedit32.

Before that I checked the complete harddisk with the app SeaTools for DOS v2.23, no errors found.

Could it be another problem, mouse driver or keyboard driver?

Was ptedit32 provided by Packard Bell? Typically, when you restore from a hidden partition, the computer maker provides the utility to do the restoring.
 
NO, I downloaded ptedit32 from the internet. the restoring was succesfol, so no errors or something.

Except the computer is not working as it should after the restore so not sure it was successful.

I am afraid I don't have any more ideas to suggest - except maybe try a restore again, this time using PB's method of restoring from the hidden partition. Sorry.
 
OK, I wil first try to update the video driver (after I made a system restore point).

If I go to packard bell site, I do find a videodriver, with newer version number then the one installed, but if I install it it says:

Display driver for the monitor ((windows vista 64 bit)

it could not find a driver that is compatible with your current hardware. ... .

(translated).

Is it possible this driver is not for the videocard but for the monitor? it 's true I'm uwing another monitor.

I want to try to download nvidia driver from nvidia website and install it, see if this will help, when I wanted to make a system restore point, nothing happens, I tried again, I receive this message:

Restore Wizard system is already running. This program will now be closed.

after a few minutes, I finally can see the window to make a restore point.

can sfc scannow maybe help fix the problems?
 
You can try running sfc /scannow and see what happens. Hopefully, if any errors are noted, they will be fixed. If not, then we can get you some specialized help for that.
 
Installed latest video driver but did not solve the problem.

sfc found some errors but could not fix them, strange hé, for a new install.
 
I cannot believe myself. I went to search the words (hibernation) on the internet ( after hibernation slow wake up) and I found an article speaking abou tthe S1 and S3 and S1S3 options in bios. (thank to Go the power in thread https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/12343-sfc-log-lots-of-thing-couldnt-repaired-4.html#post102288)


Bios was sat S3(srt), I just changed it to S1(pos) and now sleepmode works great :-) and hibernation works great :-)

This option is not anymore available after I changed S3 to S1 in BIOS.

Digerati told me to choose hybride sleepmode in post nr 6 in this tread.

But all ok now, I hope I someone else can be helped with this information

Yes, hybrid sleep mode was specifically designed for PCs (not notebooks) and for most users, including me on all my systems, works great.
