Sorry to jump in here but just thought I would add something.
No, clearing the temp folder manually won't clear dumps, but don't run any automated cleaning tools such as CCleaner until we have finished troubleshooting. Next time you have a BSOD, the .dmp file will be created and located in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder. Zip the file and upload it here after your next BSOD.
Regarding the snap-in and blank icons issue, could you please do the following. We may need to send you to the Windows Update and CBS log experts.
SFC Scan
- Click on the Start
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt - When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
- When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each
sfc /scannow
Wait for this to finish before you continue
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt
- This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
