BSOD - Wifi? - Windows 7 x64

No... my Intel 5100 performed flawlessly.

So the problem now is that you have no Internet access? I can see the word "Limited" in your screen shot.

Have you tried to connect the system via Ethernet cable? If not - please do so; turn the wifi switch on the system to OFF.

If the Ethernet does not work, you'll need to contact your ISP and ask them to troubleshoot. There isn't much more we can do here.

Hi jcgriff2, i have connected the system via Ethernet cable and it works fine.

Normally i will DISABLE the connection as shown in the picture.

Then it will be like this.View attachment 18680

When i try to ENABLE it again, 2 things might happen.
First - It succeed and the wifi normal again, but after a few minutes it will become "limited" again. If i repeat the previous step and "ENABLE" again, Second will happen.
Second - Message of "Enabling..." will show it is in the progress and never stop. Next, start task manager to "stop/close" the window. Restart, Blue screen.

Sorry, but your attachments aren't working.

The fact that Ethernet works fine tells me that you are either too far from the router; something is blocking the signal from the router or something is wrong with the router.

Run this app so I can see wifi signal strength and driver info -- wifi must be on & connected - https://www.sysnative.com/apps/netsh_lan_wlan_jcgriff2_.exe

Download it to Desktop; run it; after a few seconds, a Notepad will open. Save the Notepad & attach it to your next post.

I'll need the name of your SSID (network name).

"2u wireless" is coming through nice and strong at 99% signal strength. The problem is not related to signal strength or the signal being blocked, IMO.

Do you have other devices that are connected to the wifi and that maintain signal continuity for extreme & extended periods of time?

Somehow you have to test the wifi signal with another device to help determine if the problem is your laptop or the ISP.

I suggest that you contact the ISP anyway. Perhaps there are problems with the modem &/or router.

jcgriff2, mostly is the laptop's problem, because my handphone can connect to the router.

Sometimes when i turn on my laptop, my wifi adapter light is "off" but actually it is turn on (means the wifi cant connect/have connection problems).
Another picture of the problem. Not Connected.jpg

Can your phone stay connected to wifi for an extended period of time (like the laptop is supposed to do)?

Take your laptop to a friend's house or a public wifi hotspot and test it for extended length connectivity. We have to rule in or out that the problem could possibly be with your ISP.

Also - why haven't you updated the wifi driver yet?

Current driver info:
Code:
    Driver : [COLOR=#ff0000]Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN[/COLOR]
    Vendor : Intel Corporation
    Provider : Intel
    Date : [COLOR=#ff0000]1/22/2012[/COLOR]
    Version : 14.3.2.1

Per post #17 -
You have an Intel 5100 AGN wifi -
Code:
    Driver : Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN
    Vendor : Intel Corporation
    Provider : Intel
    Date : 1/22/2012
    Version : 14.3.2.1
Your driver is dated 2012. Download the second one - "Wireless 18.21.0_DS64.exe"

It's also possible that there is a hardware problem with your wifi.

Try the driver update first.

jcgriff2,i have run the "Wireless 18.21.0_DS64.exe" by "run as administrator" and turn on/off the wireless adapter, but the driver still not updated. Should i run in safe mode?

What happens during the driver installation run?
Does it give off an error code?
Does it complete?
Does it give you the impression that the driver update worked?

I run that same downloaded EXE on my system with the Intel 5100 adapter and have no trouble with it.

I'm really beginning to wonder if the problem isn't with the Intel 5100 adapter itself -- as in it needs to be replaced because it is failing (the actual hardware).

You can try it in safemode.

It just run without anything. After run finish then the EXE icon disappear. Just it.

That's strange.

I think it's important for you to take the laptop to a friend's home; a relative's home or a public wifi hotspot and test the system - see if it stays connected to the Internet.

If not, I would then recommend that you reinstall Windows to see if the wifi works after a fresh Windows installation.

If the wifi doesn't work after a fresh install and you have ruled out the ISP, including the modem & router, then you'll need to bring the system to a PC repair shop to be looked at because at that point in time (after all of the other steps check out), the cause would likely be hardware failure of the Intel wifi card.

You can either do that or purchase an external USB wifi adapter for $30-$50 and use it for your wifi device.

We have now covered everything that I can think of.

Regards. . .

Sorry for the late reply, many thanks for the help. Appreciated a lot. i will purchase an external USB wifi adapter and try it again to verify if it is due to hardware failure.
