Cloning hdd to ssd

Hi,

To provide appropriate advice we need some more information about the system. Please provide the Speccy link as requested.

Please ZIP and attach the BSOD dumpfile as well, you can find the dumpfile in the following directory: C:\Windows\Minidump

Hi,

The BSOD is happening when I clone hdd to ssd and boot from ssd. The system does not boot and gives an "inaccessible boot device" bsod screen.
This is happening because ssd is not being recognized in the OS in the hdd.
I will provice speccy link tomorrow.
I also formatted ssd and instralled a fresh windows 10 without any problems and both ssd and hdd is seen in the new windows 10.
I can clone hdd to ssd again if you think the bsod in the clone ssd is important.

Please also check this where I had mentioned this in another post.

Hi Maxstar,

Sorry for late replying.
Please find below the speccy link.
The ssd is in the system , it is listed in SATA AHCI controller but not seen as a disk drive.

Because of the level of detail , I will encode the url and send you the key by pm , so only you can see the contents.

Please provide the speccy link in your post, i am not helping anyone through private messages.

Additionally, there are more helpers on this forum, so once again - please post the regular link of speccy. Thank you!

Hi Burzek,

You had a previous thread about this problem, I have merged it with your current one.

Hi,

1. Open the startmenu and type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Navigate to Other devices.
3. Right-click on the Toshiba Bics device and choose Uninstall.
4. Restart the system and check if the SSD is recognized correctly.

Hi, I had tried that it does not detect correctly, it detects it as other device does not make any difference.

When I install a new windows to the ssd , everything works fine.

There is a problem with the current running w10 pro. I had made an repair install couple of months ago due to a system crash that is probably caused some misconfiguration in registry. The windows hardware detection mechanism is not working correctly.

Also the realtek audio and stereo jack is in other devices but they are working...

1. Open the Start menu and then click on the Settings button.
2. Click on Update & security > Troubleshoot and then click on Hardware and Devices.
3. Now, click on Run the Troubleshooter.
4. When the troubleshooter found problems click on Apply this fix.

Let me know the result of this..

I do not see any options when I get to troubleshoot.
The diagnostic data is set to Basic, should I set it to Full ?

I did but still there is nothing in when I get to troubleshooting.
I see only additional settings, in that I do not see any hardware section.

Very strange. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run de following commands.
Type Diskpart and press enter, then List disk and press enter.
Take a screenshot of this windows and post it into your next reply.

As I told in previous posts , the ssd is not detected as a hard drive therefore it is not displayed in diskpart.

This has not anything to do with cloning.
I had cloned hdd to ssd.
I have formatted ssd. SSD is not cloned now.
The current OS is the original one running on HDD , not on SSD.
The current OS does not see the ssd. I am running the orıginal drive.
Both drive are connected as physically on sata ports.

Do you understand the situation?
The current os I am sending you images from should detect both drives.
The problem is because the original os in the hdd does not see ssd , after cloning ssd can not boot the system when hdd is removed.
We should first fix the os in the hdd then clone it to ssd.

No not really....

1. with a clean install of Windows both drives works fine?
2. after cloning the system can't boot from the SSD?

Then something goes wrong during the clone pocess in my opinion?! I've cloned multiple hard drives to an SSD and never had issues like this....

Let me clarify,

1-There is a pc running w10 pro from hdd.
2-I turn off pc , add a ssd and directly clone the hdd to ssd and remove hdd , and try to boot from ssd and it fails.
3-Then I format ssd and install a new windows on it , it works fine.
4-I put the hdd back and boot from hdd (both hdd and ssd are connected to pc)
5- I do not see the ssd as a drive.
I understand that the problem is within the windows installed on the hdd, that is why after cloning the windows can not boot from ssd.
It never saw the ssd in the first place, it can not recognize the ssd as a drive.
6- When I boot from a hiren boot cd or any winpe boot disk, I can see all drives in the pc.
The problem is within the windows installed in hdd.
If we can fix it, it will keep working after cloning to ssd.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

Please perform a scan with FRST to get more information of this system.

Download the

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link

  • Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
  • Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  • Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.
