[SOLVED] Couldn't complete the updates

I'm not sure this could help, but I plan to install Windows 10 as soon as Windows Update is running again, so I would not object to being unable to uninstall the current packs in 8.1
 
The download failed from this PC, but I had been able to get it from a different one
I didn't give it a try because I feared that the current problems would prevent an in-place upgrade, and I sure would not like to have to do a clean install and reinstall all my stuff :eek:
 
I know that some users had multiple issues with their system and upgrading fixing them. Also, if you have Windows Update issues on Windows 8.1, they shouldn't be present anymore on Windows 10 since the system files are all being changed, so no more corruption or issues. Your call. You can also back-up all your data and get a list of your installed programs with MiniToolBox in case something goes wrong.
 
I retried getting the ISO, and this time it worked, so I took a bet and upgraded in place, just completed 3 minutes ago
The first few things I ran seem to be OK, a few icons missing from the desktop (Excel files, for instance) but that is no big issue

I won't be able to check Windows Update tonight, but I expect the problems are history (temporarily at least)
