When trying to update via Windows Updates I receive the following error:

Installation failed: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007000D: Update for Windows Server 2012 (KB2756872).

Can anyone help?

Hello and welcome,

KB2756872 is released almost 12 years ago. Why do you need this update now ?

Restart the machine.
Try to install update KB2756872 again.
If it fails, copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop.
Zip the copied file and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

Provide the System Hive

Start the program Regedit.exe.
In the left pane of Regedit browse to the key Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM
Right-click on it and select “Export”.
Choose as file location your desktop.
Typ for the file name "SYSTEM" and choose as type “Registry Hive Files (*.*)”.
Click the button Save.
When completed you can close Regedit.
Attach the file SYSTEM which should be now on your desktop to your next reply.

Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Step 2:
Restart the server.
Try to install KB2756872 again and report the result.

Export Registry Key:
1. Click the Start button and then type cmd in the search box. Right-click on cmd that comes up in the search results and select Run as administrator.
2. A User Account Control dialog may come up asking for approval. If it does go ahead and allow.
3. A command prompt window will open. Copy and paste the following into the command-prompt and hit enter.
reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\usbuhci" > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\reg1.txt"

4. After the command runs there will be a file on your desktop named reg1.txt.
5. Attach this file to your next reply.
