I was wondering, whenever you plug in a piece of hardware, can windows potentially download broken drivers or malicious drivers or something depending on the hardware.
Mainly asking, because one time I installed a nvidia GPU driver update, and my microphone stopped working in Discord (unless this was a discord issue, I’m not sure) Maybe this happened because I checked the box which was to clean install and erase previous settings, though it could’ve been Discord. I switched the ports it was plugged into, and it worked fine after that iirc I can’t remember exactly.
i guess I just want to avoid having windows re-download the same drivers or whatever
