[SOLVED] KB3000850 fails

I deleted the folder and and do have yours in there with the pasted file. The stand alone installer lists 3 files to install. KB3000850, kb3003057, and kb3014442. Should I just do kb3000850. I tried the stand alone before by saving to my desktop and it kept saying installing for about 25 minutes but did not show any progress in bar is this normal.

I will wait for your reply. Do I download the file manually and save it then click on it or do I click on the file at site and choose run. Sorry to ask so many questions but I like to know exactly and what to expect as in how long this installation should take. I don't want to wait an hour and not realize something is wrong. I so appreciate your patience.

Hello,
I so appreciate your patience.
That's quite alright. It's better to stop and ask if there's anything you're unsure of. :dsmile:

Now that you have prnekcl2.inf inside C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prnekcl2.inf_amd64_5d5f2ed31b4e4a9b, please do the following below:

  • Click Download.
  • Place a checkmark next to Windows8.1-KB3000850-x64.msu and click Next.
  • Allow the file to be downloaded.
  • Save/move the file to your Desktop.
  • Open the file, and follow the onscreen prompts.
  • Let me know if the update installs.

I will try it now. I don't know how long it should take but I'll try. Is there a time limit that I should say something is wrong. Like after 40 minutes and no progress is showing.

Well it took about 45 minutes then it said to reboot. Unfortunately, it failed again and only went to 10%. I did uninstall today Start8 because I thought that was the problem. I will reboot delete temporary files and try and again if you think that will help. I will wait for your reply. Also, before I contacted you I tried it from Windows update. It failed but lists it in Windows update as Successful. I hid the update. It is not in Control Panel under Installed updates. Could the ones in Windows updates that say successful cause problem. Or did I cause a further problem when I uninstall Start8.

I checked the directory C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and looked for the file prnekcl2.inf_amd64_5d5f2ed31b4e4a9b and it is not there. I have created the folder twice and added the inf file and both times it is gone. I am doing something wrong. Please help. Is there and easier way to add that folder.

Hi,
Not trying to be a pain but I noticed in a lot of Brian's posts he asks people to add these files for the Kodak Printer
Create the following two directories. Copy and paste the folder names so it's exact.

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\wiaek002.inf_amd64_57f9361b96ceea4b
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prnekcl2.inf_amd64_59438dc7ce792b20

Copy wiaek002.inf from C:\Windows\Inf and paste into the 1st folder you created above.
Copy prnekcl2.inf from C:\Windows\Inf and paste into the 2nd folder you created above.

I did remove the prnekcl2 one when you asked me to and added prnekcl2.inf_amd64_5d5f2ed31b4e4a9b the copied the prnekcls.inf into it.
Just wondering if the file Brian lists is one I need. I trust what you tell me believe me. I am just making sure. I am so thankful for your help and do not want you to be trouble by thinking I am being rude.
Thank you again for your kind patience. I await your reply to my last few messages.

Hello mrtoad43,

I must apologise - the name of the folder I provided for you is incorrect.

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prnekcl2.inf_amd64_59438dc7ce792b20 needs to be created, and C:\Windows\Inf\prnekcl2.inf copy/pasted inside.

After doing the above, please run the SFCFix script below:

SFCFix Script (.txt)

Warning: This fix is intended for use on this particular machine. Do not use this fix on any other machine; doing so may cause damage to your Operating System. If you are not the original poster and require assistance, please start your own topic.

  • Download View attachment SFCFix.txt and save this file to your Desktop.
  • Close all open windows.
  • SFCFix.exe
    bMTzsQ3.png
    and SFCScript.txt
    aI1XLKB.png
should both be present on your Desktop.
  • Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  • SFCFix will now process the script. Upon completion, a file (SFCFix.txt) will be created on your Desktop.
  • Copy the contents of the file and paste in your next reply.

I forgot to say no need to apologize. I do understand. You work with a lot of people. I am just glad you can help me. Also, in my last post I meant to say here is the SFCFix.txt file and I included a link for you. Thank you again for all your help. Also, do you think because it says in Windows Update under "Review Update History" that KB3000850 was successful it will cause a problem. It did fail. It shows as successful but if I don't hide it it keeps coming back when I check for updates. So I just hid it. I await your instructions.

I have not done anything else. I just want to make sure of what you want me to do next. I did send the files. Hope it turned out ok.

Hello,

Please delete the first folder created: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prnekcl2.inf_amd64_5d5f2ed31b4e4a9b

Now try manual installation:
  • Click Download.
  • Place a checkmark next to Windows8.1-KB3000850-x64.msu and click Next.
  • Allow the file to be downloaded.
  • Save/move the file to your Desktop.
  • Open the file, and follow the onscreen prompts.
  • Let me know if the update installs.

Well it finally worked. Took some time. It is in the Control Panel for Updates now. I have to say thank you so much for your patient and kind help. Without your knowledge I could not have done this. Thanks is not enough. I will send Brian an email as well and let him know how pleased I am. You are truly amazing. You have helped me so much. At my age I can not afford to lose hair. Might not be bad on a man but for a woman not so good. Thank you again. I am so appreciative. Can I remove the standalone installer now to the trash bin.

Brian,
I wanted to email you to let you know that LiaquidTension did resolve the problem for me. I wanted you to know how truly knowledgeable and patient he was with me. I could not have received more professional help that he gave to me. Thank you both so much. :smile9:

Great, I'm pleased to hear this issue is resolved. :dsmile:

Can I remove the standalone installer now to the trash bin.
Absolutely.

Take care now.
