I see no purpose for such a product as the Windows taskbar, Quicklaunch and System Tray do all that for me, without adding any 3rd party apps that may or may not get in the way. So I cannot say from experience what application dock program is best. But I do use Start8 with Windows 8 and have found this to be an excellent, rock solid, piece of software. With that in mind, these same people make ObjectDock. While I hate to "assume" as that is a good way to get burned, I am going to assume that ObjectDock is just as well made and supported. It is not free, but has a 30 day trial period and if you like it, it only costs $9.99 (on sale now for $7.49).
