So at my job we have a windows 7 machine that is only used for a Viewscan 3 microfilm reader. The thing is the camera works but it's not getting the signal to turn on the lamp. It connects through USB and then gets assigned a COM port. You are supposed to manually set the COM port in the software but in the drop down box, it only says (none).
If I go into the device manager and try to change the assigned port in there, device manager freezes for like 7 seconds and then it tells me management console has crashed. In the event log, it says msports.DLL has thrown an error.
I was on the phone with the company that sold us the machine but he's stumped and I'm trying to avoid a service call. Anyone have any ideas?
