I had not even heard the slightest chatter that Microsoft was planning to extend Defender to the Android platform. Well, they have: Microsoft Defender for Android on the Google Play Store

What am I missing, the Google Play page states the following:
Based on how you log into the app—with your work[1] or personal account[2] —you will have access to features for Microsoft Defender for individuals or to features for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

That absolutely doesn't read as for enterprise or business only. Far from it.
I've just installed it a short while ago and completed my initial login with my personal Microsoft account. Am going through initial setup right now.
