Hey guys,

A problem with an application led me to believe i didn't have all the necessary windows updates, so I tried to install them, but every time I check for updates, the same two updates show up (KB2990967 and KB3063843). I install them, but they just keep popping up again and again. So, i went to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\Installed Updates - but it says i have no updates installed. I ran cmd as admin, typed in sfc /scannow, but it says windows resource protection could not start the repair service. I'm at my wits end here. Please help!
Thanks,
Alkara

P.S. My CBS.zip file won't upload, it may be because it is 13 MB, and the maximum upload size is 7.15 MB?

Here is my SFCFix if needed:

Do you have a known good backup before the problems started?

Please manually upload the components hive (if it exists) by following these instructions:

Upload Components Hive
  1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config
  2. Right-click on the current COMPONENTS file and select copy
Note: If you get an error that the file is in use, reboot your computer and then try again.
  3. Right-click on your Desktop and select paste
  4. Right-click on the COMPONENTS file on your Desktop and select Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder
  5. Upload the zip from your Desktop to a file sharing service such as DropBox, OneDrive, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

I don't seem to have a Components file at C:\Windows\System32\config. I do have a components.log file, but it is empty.
However, I have a components file at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config: View attachment components.zip does this help?

Unfortunately that hive is empty. Do you have a backup of this computer that may have a copy of the file?

The only other way would be to do a repair install (or in-place upgrade) of Windows.
Do you have your Windows installation media? If not, use the tool here to create installation media: Windows 8
You will need an 8GB flash drive and your Windows product key.
