Hello,

First off, I'm not real computer savvy, so go easy on me. I will try to follow instructions exactly as given though, because I understand how valuable everyone's time is. Tried to fix this myself, but its not getting better.

I believe these problems started when I uninstalled Java. After reboot, a Search SYSWOW64 page would pop up after about a minute of running. Also I now noticed I have some little padlocks on some folders like (Documents and Settings) when I look in my C drive. Not sure when they showed up.

Apparently I have some corrupt files that need to be replaced, but windows can't do it. I'd rather not do a repair install unless its really necessary.

I ran sfc /scannow in boot mode off my 7.1 cd, and got "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them"

I also ran SFCFIX,and it fixed some permission issues, but not the corrupted files. What should I do next?

Thanks,
Dean

Just realized that I should have put this in the Windows update forum, and I don't see any edit button. Can a mod move it for me?

Hello RacerX and welcome to the forum.

I have moved your post to the WU forum.

The first thing I need to fix this issue is the full CBS folder, I need this to be able to to see the full paths of the files that need repairing.

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
  8. Attach this to your next post please.
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive

Thanks,
Alex

This looks good to me :)
Code:

SFC is not detecting any more corruptions.

I spoke too soon. Did a couple restarts, and still have 3 SYSWOW64 pages opening, all neatly stacked on top of each other. Might it be a virus?

There's 3 of these pages (on top of each other) that pop up, about a minute after I reboot.

Also, when I click start, and go into my personal folder (which I never use), everything is locked in there.

Ah I see, thanks.

Please download Autoruns from Here

Once downloaded open Autoruns click on File -> Save -> Save the type as a .txt document and upload the report to your next post

My Christmas was good, how was yours?

There doesn't seem to be a clear indication as to why thus folder is opening on start up.

If you click on start -> all programs -> Start up
-Is there anything inside of here?

It may also be good to do a scan for a virus.

My Christmas was good, how was yours?

Very good, Thanks

Nothing in startup except the new Dropbox program. Seems odd that it takes awhile for this pop up. Why doesn't it appear right after my desktop shows?

MBAM scan was clean. Any other programs I should run?
