Hi guys. I'm new here. I have tried many times to get tech support from Microsoft 365 about a problem I am experiencing with my OneNote app but the guy does not respond to emails or provide any useful advice at all. I have two Microsoft 365 accounts on my computer—one primarily for work and the other for class and resource management. I use two OneDrive accounts on my computer. Over the past two years, I've used Microsoft Teams and OneNote (both desktop and browser versions) without issues. My institution actively employs Microsoft 365 for classes, with each tutorial group added to a specific Teams channel for accessing class materials from the embedded Class Notebook.
As part of our routine, we prepare a source file on OneNote outlining weekly topics and activities, and we duplicate the whole subject OneNote files via Teams using an existing template. This process has saved us a lot of time in the past. However, as I began preparing for the upcoming semester in January 2024 three weeks ago (early December 2023), I noticed that many of my duplicated OneNote files (sections) in Teams were corrupted and couldn't be opened. The error message received on Teams indicated a corrupt section: "Corrupt Section: This section appears to be corrupt and can’t be opened in OneNote in a browser. Click here or press ENTER to open this section in the desktop version of Microsoft OneNote which might be able to repair it".
In the desktop app, I encountered the error code "OneNote can't sync your notes right now. We'll keep trying. (Error code: 0xE401069D c12qc)" when attempting to sync the duplicated notebooks. The other error message I received is: “This section was created in an older version of OneNote and is incompatible with your cloud notebook. (Error code: 0xE40200AA)”.
I cannot delete the corrupted files and move sections from the source file to new books for at least 15 tutorial groups (Teams) as it would take me too much time to do it (with almost 900 sections to move!) The corrupted files are inaccessible through the online version, desktop OneNote app, and Teams.
The version of Office I am using with my students - Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise; Version 2311
I am using a school account for OneNote.
I am unsure whether I am connected to a private domain or server.
I am using the OneNote desktop app.
Could anyone advise on resolving this issue and restoring the duplication function to normal?
