Hi everyone,

Im experiencing random, instant restarts on my PC and I could really use some help diagnosing the issue. Below are my system specs, a description of the problem, and the troubleshooting steps Ive taken so far.

System Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
Cooler: Cooler Master Liquid Atmos 360 AIO
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X670E-F Gaming WiFi
RAM: (e.g., 32GB DDR5-6000MHz; please adjust if needed)
GPU: ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3070
PSU: Corsair RM850e (850W, 80+ Gold, Fully Modular)
Storage: NVMe SSD and additional HDD(s)
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow
OS: Windows 11 pro (Fresh Install)

The Issue

My PC is randomly restarting with no blue screen of death (BSOD) it just instantly restarts. The restarts occur under load (during gaming) I can run Bops 6 for around 15/20 min before my pc restarts, Ive ruled out overheating since all temperatures are stable and within normal ranges.

Troubleshooting Steps So Far

1. BIOS Update & Reset:

Updated my BIOS to the latest version 2704 (then later reset it to default settings to rule out configuration issues).

2. Driver Reinstallation:

Reinstalled all key drivers (GPU, chipset, etc.) using clean installation methods (DDU was used for NVIDIA drivers).

3. RAM Testing:

Ran MemTest86 for multiple passes (2 passes so far with no errors still ongoing) to verify that my memory is stable, also ran msdchd with no errors.

4. Temperature Monitoring:

Monitored CPU/GPU temperatures during gaming and idle no overheating issues found.

5. Windows & Power Settings:

Verified Windows power settings (using Balanced or High Performance) and checked for background processes that might be causing high CPU usage.

Adjusted settings related to Windows Update and other background tasks.

6. PSU Consideration:

Currently using a Corsair RM850e, which I know is a solid unit. However, Im still considering whether power delivery issues might be causing the restarts.

What Im Considering Next

PSU Testing/Swap:

Im wondering if the RM850e might be unstable or failing, even though it’s generally a good unit. Im considering testing with or upgrading to the RM850x for potentially better power stability.

GPU/Motherboard Testing:
I havent yet swapped my GPU or done any in-depth motherboard diagnostics. Id appreciate suggestions on how to further isolate whether the GPU or motherboard might be at fault.

Event Viewer Analysis:
Ive checked Event Viewer for errors around the restart times, but any insight into interpreting the logs would be helpful.

Has anyone experienced similar issues or have suggestions on further steps to isolate the cause? Any help with diagnosing PSU, GPU, or motherboard faults would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Feel free to modify any details to better match your situation. Good luck, and I hope we can pinpoint the culprit soon!

Hi!

Install the free version of one of these programs designed to uninstall other programs:
wise program uninstaller 3.2.3 portable (current)
iobit uninstaller 14.2 (current)
smarty uninstaller 4.91 (current)
geek uninstaller 1.5.2 (working but a bit outdated)
revo uninstaller 2.5.8 portable (working but a bit outdated)

Then, with the help of the uninstaller program you chose (i.e., open it and it should remove the remnants after the normal uninstallation), uninstall msi afterburner and riva tuner.
Then send new logs.

I’ve ordered a replacement mobo as I think the mobo could be the issue it is arriving tomorrow. Is Msi afterburner and riva tuner interfering with the logs ?

I’m not getting bsods, only instant restarts, so you recommend me to uninstall them two programs, i will
Give it a go thank you.

I just uninstalled both programs using one of the uninstaller’s mentioned above, as soon as I tried to run the file collection app my pc restarted.
