Is this a game changer for anyone upgrading to Windows 10?

Any PC that is upgraded from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 will lose the Media Center functionality, and there's no way to get it back.

Personally, I never used the Windows Media Center, so it doesn't really affect me. If I wanted a Media Center at home, I would just take out an old computer, install Plex on it and then use it as a Media Server. At least, now I can answer the people who asked me if I knew if Windows 10 would have a Media Center Edition.

We can confirm that due to decreased usage, Windows Media Center will not be part of Windows 10.

I use Windows Media Center as my PVR for local television. This is bad news for me, apparently. :-{

Hope the DVD option later on down the line is something that allows me to use my PC in the same way for local television. Otherwise, I will have to pursue alternative ways to record my favorite shows.
