Screen Flickers After 5 Minutes of PC Being On

I bought my PC about 2 years ago and...

Brand: CyberPowerPC
OS: Windows 10 Version 21H2

So for as long as I can remember, every time I turn my PC on, my first monitor goes black for about 5 seconds and turns back on. This happens within around 5 minutes of me using the PC. I'm not sure why this happens and it's kind of frustrating because almost 1 in out of every 10 times this happens, I have to restart my PC because both screens blackout, and I can't use it anymore. Is anyone able to help me out with this?

We'll need some specifications before we proceed.
  • Download Speccy x64 portable 1.32.740 (click)
If you need the 32bit version: Speccy x86 (NON-portable)
  • Unzip/decompress it and put it on your desktop.
  • When the program opens, it will retrieve some information regarding your system.
  • Once it's done, select the File menu and choose Publish snapshot. Answer Yes to the confirmation message.
  • On the next screen that comes up, choose the Copy to Clipboard button and paste this link in your next reply.

While you wait for us to look over your specs, take the time to check the cables on all parts involved, including the power cable for the monitors. Make sure they are all snug and tight. If you have extra cables that plug into the monitor and the vid card, try it out and see if it works.

Check your vid card and make sure its seated in the motherboard properly. Also, blow the dust out while you're in there if you haven't done so in a while.

Everything is alright unless a cord is faulty or something along those lines. Let me know if you see an issue and thank you very much.

I don't see any issues in Speccy. All your temps are within spec.

Is Windows up to date?
If you can borrow a known working cord that plugs into the monitor and vid card, please do so to eliminate the possibility, please.

I'll try it out within the next couple of days and let you know. Do you think it may have something to do with my power supply not being strong enough for my GPU? I have the original power supply that came with my prebuilt PC, but I upgraded my GPU to a 2080 TI, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it?

I’m not 100% sure because that was part of the prebuilt portion I got. How would I go about finding out?

Do you have an email from Cyberpower? I've purchased computers from them for work/home and they send an email with an inventory list that will have the model of PSU on it.

Or-

You'll have to open the case. Hopefully, a label will be visible. It will look similar to this. PSU Label.jpg

I can't remember, but I don't think so. I'm pretty sure this happened after I upgraded my video card.

It's quite possible it's the PSU as it doesn't meet Nvidia's specs for that card. I'm one of those users, when it comes to PSU's always go well above the recommended wattage. All the other things plugged into the motherboard need power as well. Drives, RGB, CPU, etc. If you don't have a bunch of overhead stuff like RGB then you are probably ok.

I didn't notice any in your Speccy but could have missed it. Are you running any kind of crowd share clients like folding@home or Boinc? Are you mining bitcoin/altcoins?

Have you swapped the cabling yet?

Nah, the cable is coming in tomorrow so I will try it then, and I am not running any crowd share clients either. If I were to get a new PSU, do you have any recommendations for me to purchase? Thanks in advance.

If you do end up purchasing a PSU, the PSU is where you do not want to cut corners.

The Seasonic brand is good. 80+ Gold 650W or above. Make sure it fits your mATX case/motherboard.

Please understand, you may purchase a new PSU and still have the issue but at the very least, you'll be up to specification.

Let me know how the new cables work out.

I'd like to see you utilize DDU in safe mode and get the latest driver too.

Your Speccy shows an older driver 456.71 the latest is 497.09
