Hello,
Hoping to solve System Event Notification Service error.

I'm unable to uninstall KB 2962664 on a win 7- 64 machine.

I have tried to uninstall from cmd prompt $ => ' wusa /uninstall /KB:2952664'

Also from cmd $ => have run
@Echo off
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" /v LoadAppInit_DLLs /t REG_DWORD /d 00000000 /f
REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" /v LoadAppInit_DLLs /t REG_DWORD /d 00000000 /f

In Services, I have restarted and set to automatic;
DHCP,
Sys Event Notification service
WIN Font Cache
COM + Event System Service

I have reset winsock

I have done these things as admin, repeatedly.

KB2952664 continues to reappear on the computer.

Following an earlier thread in sysnative from softwaremaniac, I downloaded and ran FRST64 as described, typing KB2952664 INTO 'SEARCH' and scanned 'REGISTRY'.
I have the event log.

I scanned and quarantined malware with Malwarebytes.

I have run SFC Scan, installed DISM, and have run SFC Fix.
The CBS.zip file is~48MB so may have to upload using Google Drive to your forum.

Hi!

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

I am unable to permanently uninstall WIN update KB2952664. This seems to present a problem regarding the System Event Notification Service starting certain apps. It all started when I tried to network two Ubuntu Linux machines with this windows machine and failed repeatedly. The search for a fix led to System Notification and then to the update. One of your logs showed 106 corruptions.

According to the log, KB2952664 is no longer present. I've dealt with it around 100 times until now and have never had "System Notification" as you call it.

Additional problems;
''Unable to set system config <various files> access denied'' Installing Git.
Repeated attempt by WIN to install KB 947821 (as well as KB2952664)and save the installation despite the fact that I have turned off all automatic WIN updating.
error codes;
0x80070035
0x80070005 (Access denied)
Reliabliity Monitor shows repeated failures of Agent Shell to start and run

I am unable to send you a copy of my Control Panel but in a screen of 'installed updates, KB2952664 is the first in the list. If I uninstall (as I am about to do again), a restart will automatically reinstall the update.

Again, I don't see the correlation, but you can hide it if you want, after uninstalling when you check for updates and find it, right-click it and select hide update.

My problem is that I am unable to network my Linux machines with my WIN 7 machine. I have tried everything I have come across for a month without success. The problem has led me through a variety of failures including uninstallation difficulties for KB2956224 update, the System Notification startup failures and fixes as mentioned above, and including the sysnative fixes, without success.

I can see The Win machine on my Linux machines but cannot see the Linux machines from Windows machine. I tried installing PuTTY but though i could see a Win terminal, the connection was refused so no file transfers were possible.

The problem is a failure of WIN to connect with the other machines in the network. If you can offer help in this regard I would appreciate it.
Please advise.
Thank you.
