First time here, running out of options and have been trying to fix this issue for a while now.

Every attempt to complete Windows Update version 22H2 results in "Error 0x8007007e"

Running SFC results in:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."

Running DISM results in:

"Error: 126

An error occurred. DISM could not be initialized in the local folder.
Ensure that DISM is installed correctly and that all of the binaries are present."

I have attached CBS and ComponentsScanner as requested - I appreciate any help with this headache!

I appreciate the assistance!

I've followed the instructions and I seem to be getting the same error.

"Error: 126

An error occurred. DISM could not be initialized in the local folder.
Ensure that DISM is installed correctly and that all of the binaries are present."

Please see attached SFCFix.txt and new CBS

Hi,

The latest CBS log is clean, please reboot the system and run SFC /Scannow and DISM again and post the latest CBS logs if it fails.

Hello,

I've rebooted and attempted SFC and DISM and the same errors have appeared.

Please see attached CBS log.

That fixed it perfectly! It found the corrupted file and fixed it no problem - Just updated Windows now with no issue. Thank you so much!

You're welcome. I guess the feature update 22H2 is installed, this because the system was still running an old 1909 build of Windows 10?

This was to update to 20H2, apologies as the title does say 22H2 - This PC was second-hand so I don't know the full details, should I be looking into updating this to 22H2?

Please run ComponentsScanner again to see which version is installed and or remaining issues.

Download
61f7aba7309a1-ComponentsScanner_Icon.png
ComponentsScanner and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click ComponentsScanner.exe and select "Run as administrator", click Yes on the UAC (User Account Control) prompt which appears.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Once complete, a report will be saved to your desktop called ComponentsScanner.txt.
  • Post the logfile ComponentsScanner.txt as attachment into your next reply.

Rich (BB code):
Windows Version: Windows 10 20H2 x64 (10.0.19042.2965)

This log looks good, so please attempt to update to 22H2 with the following tool of Microsoft.

Download the
61c988c2082b1-updateassistent.png
Windows 10 Update Assistant to your desktop.
  • Right-click on Windows10Upgrade9252.exe and select the option: Run as administrator.
  • Press the Update now button, click after the compatibility check on Next.
  • The Update Assistant will now download the latest Feature Update.
  • After verifying the download, the Feature Update will be installed.
  • When this process is ready, click on the Restart now button to complete the installation.

Hi,

You're welcome. Glad to hear the system is fully up-to-date now... (y)
