Hi, my computer seems to have an issue with starting up. It takes about 9-11 minutes from the time I turn the power button on, to getting to the Desktop. I tried deleting a whole bunch of games and apps but still no difference in start up time. I went on the Spybot forums and we ran a bunch of malware software and then they sent me here to get help for programs that actually start up each time I turn on the computer. What could be preventing a quick start up? Thank you.

Start>System Configuration>Startup. See what doesn't need to start. You're not deleting the item, only not allowing it to start when booting. Delete Spybot completely in Programs & Features (CP). It's not needed in modern systems and will definitely slow down you computer.

Hello, if I do delete Spybot completely (my computer was purchased May 2018), what software should I be running on a regular basis to keep my computer clean?

Also, I've posted the programs that are running in Start-up. Some of them I know, others I'm not sure what they are and if I should disable them. Can you please guide me?

Hi, @gigglepot33. As is indicated in the list of startup programs, SpyBot is not an issue. However, note in particular EpicGamesLauncher and Steam which both have a High Startup Impact. In addition, if you do not require Java for work, I strongly suggest you uninstall it. In addition, Microsoft Edge does not support Java. Personally, I've limited startup programs to the bare minimum and merely use shortcuts for opening programs such as Microsoft Office.

For security all you need is the built in Windows Security so remove Avast and it will also leave your Startup menu. I would also remove the Nuance items from the Startup. MBAM would be acceptable if you wish since it won't interfere with the Windows one.

True, however, with SpyBot installed, that should be sufficient with either Windows Defender of Avast and it isn't affecting startup.

It is the same situation with Malwarebytes. As illustrated here, it has long been known that Malwarebytes is considered an antivirus software and it is necessary to change the setting in the Security Center so Malwarebytes is not registered.

Edit note: The bottom line is what @gigglepot33 prefers and if removing the high usage programs as well as any seldom-used programs from startup have helped.

Hi, I've removed a whole bunch of programs from starting up and now my computer takes about 6 mintues to start from the 9-11 minutes. Is 6 minutes acceptable? I feel it's too long. Anything else I can try to speed things up?

Start>Settings>Power & Sleep>Additional Power Settings (on right side)>Choose What the Power Button does>Change settings that are currently unavailable>Under Shutdown Settings, Turn on fast startup>Save

Spybot isn't actually in my Start-up programs, it just says tray access. So is it even slowing down my computer?

Ok, I will do this. Is there any other program that you suggest that I run on a weekly basis to keep my computer safe and clean?
