[SOLVED] [W10StdV1703b15063 x64] PC reboots during gaming; no minidumps. FIX: NEW PSU.

Ok it seems that my new PSU just died........ was gaming and suddenly went off, no reboot just dead no power coming through to anything at all, worked for 20 hours or so no issues. I swapped my old one back in and away i went again. Can i really be this unlucky with PSU? My GTX 970 is a 4gb v ram. I have no issue in browsing it is a power cut and reboot except the new PSU just cut. Dead will take it to the shop tomorrow get them to check if it works at all. Any ideas past this on the whole sorry mess? As i say the old PSU is now back in and working as before.

Edit all cables and connectors looked fine

Two bad PSUs could indicate your power is not clean going into the system. You may want to consider investing in a high end UPS to protect the power into the system.

EDIT: I see you mentioned using a UPS earlier in the thread, including a newer one. What UPS are you using?

The chances of both PSUs being bad are almost impossible. I'd be looking at power, so try connecting your PC directly to a wall outlet without the UPS. I've seen the issue where people's PC's were restarting because something was wrong with their UPSes.

if the Ups were at fault, why would the new PSU die and the old work fine for many hours with reboots sometimes? The two problems are not the same result. Is it possible for an UPS to kill a PSU even? I can imaging the power dropping but is it capable of spiking power on its own? That would be the only way it could kill a brand new Seasonic gold right?? And if it is spiking high enough to kill it, why is it not doing the same to the cheaper cooler master model?

UPS is i believe this model Advice แอดไวซ์ แหล่งรวม ไอที IT, คอมพิวเตอร์ computer, โน้ตบุ๊ค notebook, แท็บเล็ต tablet, สมาร์ทโฟน Smartphone ราคาถูกใจ Not sure if it is good or not, cant find much about it, but due to my location i had limited choices at the time.

Another thought on UPS ( i have plugged the comp into the wall for testing with old PSU) If the UPS did something to fry a gold Seatronic, i heard no noise, no smoke no smell, my screen and my modem are both plugged into the ups too, why would it effect the high uality PSU and no sign at all on screen or with modem...??

Ok the saga continues... Using my origional PSU and plugged straight into the wall i still had the reboot issue the same as before. So the UPS is not causing the rebooting. I would also feel safe to say that an UPS is very unlikely to kill a brand new seasonic gold + the fact that everything is working fine with the exception of the reboot, it can go for hours of heavy gaming with no probs and then reboot. If the UPS was capable of frying a high quality new PSU why has it not killed the lesser model, or anything else??
Personally i think i just hit unlucky on the new PSU i cannot see any evidence to suggest my UPS would kill it whilst leaving older one running, and not showing any strange behaviour aside from the rebooting which is a sign of a PSU on the way out. Thoughts on this are of course much appreciated as you are all more experienced in the trouble shooting side of things than i.

Already returned yesterday, and new one should be here today, today being 06:39 am as i write. Would you agree with my opinion on the UPS situation?
If power into the house was capable of killing a new PSU through an UPS would i also not be seeing other electrical appliances within the house have problems, especially things like light bulbs?
I am just trying to eliminate any possibility it is my end before i put another new PSU into the firing zone, so to speak.

Well, I wouldn't eliminate it as of yet. I've really seen weird stuff happening. I myself had a situation where my PC would just lose picture randomly and sometimes restart. Took it to a repair shop eventually, because I have done everything I could and had no spare GPU or things to test hardwarte wise.
The thing was in for repair 36 days. They couldn't make it crash except just once. The guy came over my house and boom it crashed within seconds. Eventually it boiled down to be the power in my house (although everything else was working flawlessly), as a result my GPU and RAM were fried.

It seems your processor could be affected by this problem (click).

You can try to disable the hyper threading support in your bios settings and see how your system behaves.
Otherwise, there's a new beta bios for your motherboard: you could try to update it (following carefully asrock instructions) and see if the problem disappears.

The 2nd New PSU has seemingly sorted the problem 3 weeks or so no issues, so as suspected from the very start it was the PSU on the way out, compounded by a new high quality psu being a dud... low failure rate does not = no fail :)
Thanks for the support as we checked other parts before i had to spend the cash.
