Hello, I am trying to troubleshoot the installation of a hotfix on a Windows 2008 R2 Standard SP1

Security Update for Windows (KB4343900)
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80073712: Security Update for Windows (KB4343900).

I don't have Internet access because this is VM Clone to try to repair this vm first then apply these steps on the active server (which has internet connection).
I am not allowed to connect it to internet but I can copy files to it.
I am afraid I neither have the installation media files.

sfc /scannow
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example'
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

The system file repair changes will take effect after the next reboot.

I rebooted it.
I ran Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64 (System Update Readiness Tool)
But it never starts (stuck at initializing)
I tried Repair & Fix Windows Updates with Fix WU Utility and tried other things (removed files inside download and datastore of the softwaredistribution folder). But no luck, the SURT never finishes the installation.

Later:
Ran SFCFix

I will appreciate your help

I tried copying the entire winsxs folder from another server but didn't worked

Hello and welcome!

Unfortunately, as you have copied over the winsxs folder from another machine and due to the amount of the corruption that is present, I am going to suggest a repair install if possible.

Thanks, I actually didn't copy the winsxs, I tried but couldn't do it. So I guess the amount of corruption is just what it already had.
I tried the repair install or upgrade in place but despite being a VM it said there was a missing driver "Windows installation cannot continue because a required driver could not be installed"

Are all the HDDs properly recognized during the install process?

Can you try detaching any add-on devices you may have plugged in during the In-Place Upgrade process?

Yes, the Scsi controller is LSI Logic parallel, I added the driver just in case with imagex tool
I didn't add any other device.
I copied the setup files to the D: drive and ran it from the OS.

This is a custom image of some sort?

No it's the standard
I double checked Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 (x64)(en_windows_server_2008_r2_with_sp1_x64_dvd_617601.iso) version.

I guess it will have to be a new build

Leave it running overnight. It never finishes, because of the amount of files.

Perfect I will do that
I left it running for 2 or 3 hours and thought it should have finished, I will leave it until tomorrow

After leaving it running as you suggested the SURT has finished and it said installed.
I ran SFCFIX
Rebooted
Ran sfc /scannow again
tried to run install the hotfix: it said it installed /didn't ask for reboot when it usually it does.
Verified if the hotfix was installed on add/remove programs view updates didn't find it.
Tried to ran the hotfix again to see if it said the hotfix was already installed. It failed
Verified the event logs, it mentions again the same error code 0x80073712

I am running SURT again.

Thanks I ran the script, and I am attaching the output.

I launched the SURT and it is still running, I will let it complete.
