[SOLVED] win10 won't update after 1703

I would like you to re-download the iso just to eliminate the possibility of it being corrupt, because the errors I'm seeing seem to be indicative of that.

1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
2. Accept the License Agreement
3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.

almost....
installation went fine until 75%, then blackscreen. But after turning off/on it continued!
After a long time the warning: c:\windows\sytem32\config\systemprofile\desktop missing
Then a screen with only a (in dutch 'vuilbak' = garbage bin?) The windows icon left under does nothing.
The only thing I could do was ctrl-shift-esc, (dutch 'nieuwe taak' = new task?) winver said 1803!
shutdown
after restart it returned to the previous version... 1703 again

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Execute gsmartcontrol.exe; Let the install complete and launch the programme.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;

You have selected the wrong test type.

I had selected 'extended self-test' (see screen shot attached to previous reply) The other tests are even shorter.
When I select my hard-drive (d:) the estimated duration is a few hours. But windows is installed on c:, the ssd.
Which one do I have to test?

results for the hard-drive d: (completed with no errors, attributes nothing red)

now I see there are many setuperr.log's and setupact.log's. I hope these are the one you need (are from Windows\System32\Logfiles\setupcln)

I think these are the old ones.

tried to update again, same problem: black screen after 75%, computer off/on, then the rest of the update; Result a very bad version 1803, back to 1703 after shutdown and restart.

now I'm sure the added files are the most recent.

is there a log file I can get or make while in '1803'-mode?
