[SOLVED] [Win7SP1 x64] WU fail - KB3060716 and KB3071756

Hello,

I can't install the aformentioned updates. Tried to download them and install manually, but install fails. I ran System Update Readiness Tool, SFCfix and SFC. Logs are in the attachment.



Help? :)

Please do the following:

Export Registry Key

  • Click the Windows Start
    29Fou9c.jpg
    button. Type regedit in the search bar, right-click regedit and click
    AVOiBNU.jpg
    Run as administrator.
  • On the left side, navigate to and select the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing

  • Once selected, click File, followed by Export....
  • Name the file CBS and save to your Desktop.
  • Right-click CBS, click Send to, followed by Compressed (zipped) folder. Attach this file in your next reply.
  • Note: If the file is too large to attach, upload to a service such as Dropbox, One Drive or SendSpace and provide a direct download link in your next reply.

  • Close all open windows.
  • SFCFix.exe

    should both be present on your Desktop.
  • Drag the file SFCScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  • SFCFix will now process the script. Upon completion, a file (SFCFix.txt) will be created on your Desktop.

After completing the above, please rerun SURT. Copy the contents of the new SURT log found at C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log and paste in your next reply.

Thanks, LiquidTension. The errors are gone, but those two updates still won't install. They fail again with Code 80070490.

    + r on your keyboard at the same time. Type Notepad and click OK.
  • Copy the three bold lines below and paste into the Notepad document:

    sfc /scannow
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\CBS.txt"
    del %0

  • Click Format. Ensure Wordwrap is unchecked.
  • Click File, Save As and name the file sfcscannow.bat.
  • Select All Files as the Save as type. Save the file to your Desktop.
  • Locate sfcscannow.bat
    lmRDSkT.png
    on your Desktop. Right-click the file and click
    AVOiBNU.jpg
    Run as administrator.
  • Upon completion, a file (CBS.txt) will be created on your Desktop. Attach this file in your next reply.

Please try manually installing KB3060716 using the following link.

If the update fails to install, please zip up and attach the following files immediately after.

  • C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
  • C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

  • Copy and paste (right-click the Window + Paste) the command below into the Command Prompt. Press Enter on your keyboard.

    wusa /uninstall /KB:2973351

  • Let me know if the command was successful, or if an error was returned.

The command was successful. It asked me if I wanted to unistall that update and I chose Yes.

I can't edit my post - the installation of KB3060716 and KB3071756 was now successful!

Hi Liquid,

I just found this thread and I too, have the exact same issue. Both KB3060716 & KB3071756 repeatedly fails to install, with an Windows Update error code 80070005.

When I found this discussion thread, I picked up the thread where you suggested to remove KB2973351; which I did. And attempted to re-apply the updates.

Unfortunately, it still fails.

Can you please help me?
