Hello,

I've seen this exact issue elsewhere on this forum, so I'm hopeful we can reach a resolution for me as well! Windows updates have been failing for a long while. I'm also unable to install an in-place upgrade using either an unmodified ISO or a Rufus boot USB with the compatibility checks disabled.

many thanks from detail instructions. i am not so pro with these!

Hi @maestro,

Welcome to Sysnative Forums!

If you haven't already, please review the posting instructions here, and attach the requested log files. Without log files, our helpers will not be able to assist, and this will slow down fixing your machine.

If logs have been already been provided, our team of volunteers will analyse the provided log files to build a fix for your system. Please be aware that this may take several days from your initial post, due to the high volume of threads that we receive.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1. Download

  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.

Great, since this is an old build I would suggest to install Windows 10 22H2 first with the following tool.

Download the
61c988c2082b1-updateassistent.png
Windows 10 Update Assistant to your desktop.
  • Right-click on Windows10Upgrade9252.exe and select the option: Run as administrator.
  • Press the Update now button, click after the compatibility check on Next.
  • The Update Assistant will now download the latest Feature Update.
  • After verifying the download, the Feature Update will be installed.
  • When this process is ready, click on the Restart now button to complete the installation.

ok i will do that now. how about going to windows 11 after this update? what would be best way to do it?

When Windows 10 22H2 is installed I would first make a complete system image, so you can always restore the system when Windows 11 is not running well or causing issues. I assume this system meets the minimal hardware requirements for Windows 11?

yes windows update page showing green light there that you system is good to go for windows11.

maybe giving me instruction for making system image and the way i should then update to windows11? i quess needs to be done anyway because windows 10 support end during this year anyway.

There are several ways to make a system image:

- Hasleo Backup Suite Free - Free Windows Backup Software for Windows in 2025 - Hasleo Backup Suite
- Macrium Reflect (30 day trial) - https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

For Windows 11 you can install it from the Windows Update Settings screen, or the following tool.

Download the
61c988c2082b1-updateassistent.png
Windows 11 Installation Assistant to your desktop.
  • Right-click on Windows11InstallationAssistant.exe and select the option: Run as administrator.
  • Press the Update now button, click after the compatibility check on Next.
  • The Update Assistant will now download the latest Feature Update.
  • After verifying the download, the Feature Update will be installed.
  • When this process is ready, click on the Restart now button to complete the installation.

thanks. i will to that windows 10 update first. then image with hasleo. and going with update setting screen to update for windows11.

i will send later today one more message - if/when - everything is done without any problems!
