I have been able to keep a system that I use for video editing, music and 3D animation alive since 2009(!). One can say I have had to go through a lot of lessons learned to get from W7Pro to where I am now without ever re-installing. But now I am really stuck. Just before the moment I would have to move to W11 for some reason I have incompatible component versions. Either mentioned in a registration or in reality. It happened after an update in october 2022 is what I could find out. Last couple of years I have been traveling a lot and only had little moments in time to troubleshoot. I did not register a lot of last years troubleshooting session I did around the time I got to register in this forum.
I realize you guys can do some magic. You may realize I wish I could do that too. But I will give myself over to you cause I remember trying so many things. The PC is still very alive. All applications running flawless except windows update. Tried all steps and found the version mismatch. If you need me to, I will dive to the same depth to re-figure out where it went wrong.
For now I have a very general code (0x800700c1) that apparently can sometimes be solved with a simple sfc or DISM restore. Both are stuck on:
- Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.
and
- Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.3570
Image Version: 10.0.19045.3570
Error: 193
%1 is not a valid Win32 application.
(I think I just copied and pasted a version mismatch I tried to solve last year)
I seriously would be so grateful if you could help me prove you really never have to reinstall since W7 ;-)
