Dear Maestros,

I was wondering if you could help me. My Windows 10 seems quite borked and I have no idea how to fix it. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running:

Windows 10 Home.

Version 21H1.

OS Build 19043.985

Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0

Firstly windows update doesn't work at all, always spits out this error:

There were problems downloading some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this, try searching the web or contacting support for help. This error code might help: (0x800700c1)

When trying to run sfc /scannow i get:

Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

When i run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth i get:

Error: 193

%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

I've attached the CBS and Component files for inspection. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

Hi @Elfrino,

Welcome to Sysnative Forums!

If you haven't already, please review the posting instructions here, and attach the requested log files. Without log files, our helpers will not be able to assist, and this will slow down fixing your machine.

If logs have been already been provided, our team of volunteers will analyse the provided log files to build a fix for your system. Please be aware that this may take several days from your initial post, due to the high volume of threads that we receive.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1. Download
67139f7e69a58-SFCFix-ico.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Thankyou for the reply and help Maxstar.

It seems to have improved but scf /scannow returns:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag
.

And DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth is running now but returns:

[===========================84.9%================= ]
[==========================100.0%==========================]
Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

I have attached the SFCFix.txt and the new CBS.log

Thankyou.

Thankyou. I just wanted to mention:

I tried one more thing after running scf /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
I ran Windows update and it worked! Windows installed all my windows updates and now I'm up to date! Thankyou so much!

My windows version after the updates has changed

My Windows version after the upgrade is now:

Windows 10 Home.

Version 22H2

OS Build 19045.5247

Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19060.1000.0

Now when I run scf /scannow I get:

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

But when I run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth I still get:

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.3636

Image Version: 10.0.19045.5247

[==========================100.0%==========================]
Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

I'm not sure what to do, should I still run the new fix you provided or should I send you an new log file (not sure which one you would need).

I'm a bit afraid to run the fix in case the windows updates have changed things up now.

I think it's pretty much fixed apart from the DISM stuff.

Please let me know how I should proceed, thankyou.

Thanks, please perform the steps in post #5 and let me know the result.

It's fixed!:
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.3636

Image Version: 10.0.19045.5247

[==========================100.0%==========================] The restore operation completed successfully.
