Windows 7 freezes sometimes shuts down on its own.

Is there any lines under "Attributes" that appears in red or pink, or not at all? If not, I'll make you run a test using another tool, since the fact that you can't complete the one from GSmartControl is suspicious.

Here, let's give CrystalDiskInfo a try.

Download Center - Crystal Dew World

Download the "Portable w/o Ads (zip)" version, since it doesn't come bundled. Run a test on your SSD with it, then give me screenshots of the results. Do you know how to take and attach screenshots or?

Click on Function and select Rescan. Should be instant. If nothing changes, no need to provide a new screenshot.

idk if it is significant but computer hasn't froze since yesterday and only once at the beginning since i took it off docking station. granted i haven't been doing anything besides running scans and leaving them be.

You want to give it a day try without being on the docking station and see if the freezes and black screens occurs?

Ok sure i will use it today and see how it goes - the workload will be less but if it doesn't freeze at all that will be a good sign.

Yes, I really suspect the docking station, but since we cannot update any of it's drivers and firmware, the troubleshooting vector is small.

Hi,

I had no problems surfing internet and doing light work without docking station. I tried it again with the docking station it worked ok but eventually i had the problem where cursor would be stuck on one monitor and i couldn't move it to the other monitor. The cursor eventually changed pointers and then froze completely - where i had to shutdown manually.

So the docking station can be the issue. What if you do heavier work on the laptop without being docked, can it handle it?

Hi,

I play poker so a dock is essential for my normal volume. Should i buy a new dock and try it out. Is there another likely culprit or is it just hard to tell.

As far as I know, there's no sound output on a dock? Or do you mean, when you dock the laptop, you have a monitor connected to it and the sound goes out from there? Also, aren't you a developper/programmer? So I guess you can do other heavier task than playing poker on your laptop, if you do work with it for example. You could buy a new dock and try it out, but if it doesn't work, then you would have wasted money for nothing. I would still give it another 2-3 days without the dock but while using the laptop normally and see how it behaves.

The sound plays from the laptop while docked ... also i can use the laptop sound output for speakers. I'm not a programmer/developer. That is my only skepticism with it working without the dock i didn't really do nearly as resource intensive stuff.

So the issue is that the sound isn't loud enough on the laptop itself when you play poker? And my bad, I saw a few programs that made me think you were (like PostgreSQL). A dock isn't needed to do intensive tasks too, you can do them without a dock. I'm currently on my work laptop, on a docking station, and wether or not I'm docked I do the same tasks.

It is needed basically because i play lot of tables at once so i need multiple monitors to play effectively.

Ah alright I understand now. Well, if you can play one table or two at once on the laptop, that would already be something. Other than that, the docking station seems to be the culprit here. But if you can't use the laptop like you do on the dock, it's hard to say. You can connect at least one monitor to the laptop, without passing by the dock.

Ya i will try it will a couple tables and will try connecting another monitor w/ vga cable today. Also the last two times i left it docked and went away i came back to no signal on monitors when i took laptop off dock it was just a blank black screen and i had to shut it down. At these times there was nothing resource intensive running. In addition this didn't happen when i had the gsmart scan running for long periods.

I think i will just order a new dock and try it out to save some time if possible. I need at least 2 video outputs .. ideally 3. Should i just try the same one or ?
