[SOLVED] Windows 7 x64 KB4486563 won't install

I get the same error C80001FE
Take a screenshot of that and paste it into your next reply.
Also attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CbsPersist_20190215081603.cab to your next reply.

Post the logfile C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log as attachment in your next reply.
Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next reply please upload via a service such as Filedropper or One Drive or SendSpace and just provide the download link.

Download
51ab99ff51ec9-CrystalDiskInfo.png
CrystalDiskInfo.zip and save it on your desktop.
Extract the .zip file into a new folder.
In this new folder, run the tool DiskInfo.
When the tool is finished, it will show some information about the hard disc.
Note: Resize the window so that all information is visible.
Take a screenshot. Read this on how to take a screenshot.
Upload the image file to a file-sharing site and post the download link.

Hi, my email client and browser no longer worked for more than a few seconds, I've restored a disk image from last year, but on another drive (I think there is something wrong with my SanDisk). Thanks for all your help

Thanks for all your help
Your welcome.

Download
5651f91f73916-AS_SSD_Benchmark.PNG
AS SSD Benchmark.
Right-click the ZIP file and select "Extract all...".
In the extracted folder, click AS SSD Benchmark to start the tool.
Click Start at the bottom of "AS SSD Benchmark".
When finished, click "File - Screenshot" and save the file.
Upload the saved file to a file sharing site and provide the download link in your next reply

I don't see a problem with that drive. How does Windows Update work when you use the other drive with the restored disk image ?

Just to clarify. The WU issue on the SanDisk on which you started this thread is solved ?

Great news. I don't think that the tools CrystalDiskInfo and AS SSD Benchmark did anything to fix the WU issue.
Perhaps the shutdown, power-off and restart fixed something on the original SSD.
Anyway, problem solved.

All the best.

PeterJ,

I've got a problem with Window Updates not working, similar to problems that I see you've helped others solve. I've tried many different things, but I can't seem to solve this one on my own.

On this machine, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium X64 SP1, and have never had problems with Windows Update on this machine prior to Oct 2018.

For the last 5 months, the machine will download the updates, but then fail during the restart/install/config (it almost always hangs up at 15% completed, if that is of any significance?), and then it reverts to the previous configuration. That process takes a lot of time, each/every time it gets rebooted.

The two updates that fail to install are:

1. 2019-02 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2 for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB4487078), Error Code: 80070057.

2. 2019-02 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4486563), Error Code 80070005.

This has been happening since October 2018 (that was the last time these two monthly updates were successfully installed).

I've tried many different things to try to solve this issue, but I'm stuck and totally frustrated. And I'm sure that being 5 months behind on MS Security Updates is probably not a good thing.

So, when I finally came across this forum and read some of the advice you've given regarding this same issue and others, I finally felt like I'd found the one person who might be able to help with this. You're clearly head-and-shoulders above anyone else currently offering advice on this subject, including any of the 6 or 7 different people I dealt with at MS (most of whom just want me to upgrade to 10). I've got a couple of W10 machines and a couple W7 machines, and both OS's are OK, but I also do not want to convert my W7's. But after reading your posts, I felt hope creep back in, for the first time in 5 months, that I might get this problem solved.

One of the things you suggested to other users with problems similar to mine, is to run SURT. So I downloaded and ran SURT. The CheckSUR.log file indicated: No Errors Detected.
Same thing with the CheckSUR.persist.log file - No Errors Detected. So now at this point, I'm at a total loss of what to try next!!

I would be glad to send you whatever files you need, but I'm a real novice on file transfer/sharing. So if you need any files from me, can you please give me some basic guidance around how best to set up/use a file xfr site?

I would be most grateful for any advice/suggestions you might be able to offer!

Thank you very much!

Pete P
