Okay, let me quickly address a few points right now.
I don't think I did. My WinDbg does not report any symbol errors, just loaded fresh symbols from their server yesterday. Was screaming like crazy before I updated them.
Device manager shows version 1.0.5.235.
I will try to update the drivers as you suggested, but so far I haven't seen any problems after disconnecting the printer. There could be other hardware offenders: my Logitech webcam, and the UPS (hooked up thru USB to report UPS status).
