I have the following KB's that are failing during reboot on a Windows Server 2012R2,
  • KB5016683
  • KB5018476
  • KB5020010
  • KB5021296
  • KB5022346
  • KB5022835
  • KB5022894
  • KB5023764
  • KB5025285
  • KB5025288
There are no error during installation of updates in either Windows Update, SCCM Software Center, or when downloading and installing from catalog.update.microsoft.com.
After a reboot SCCM gives following error, 0x87D00324(-2016410844) - Which translates into "The application was not detected after installation completed."
Currently it's only possible to reboot server daily at 21:00 CEST (UTC+2).

SFC /Scannow result,
C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth result,
C:\Windows\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.3.9600.19408

Image Version: 6.3.9600.19397

[==========================100.0%==========================]
The restore operation completed successfully. The component store corruption was repaired.
The operation completed successfully.
Component store corruption haven't been there when run DISM earlier. So haven't tested with installation and reboot after this.

Just tried with installation and reboot of server. It's still the same error, 0x87D00324(-2016410844) - Which translates into "The application was not detected after installation completed."

1. Right-click the Start button and click Command Prompt (administrator).
2. A User Account Control dialog may come up asking for approval. If it does go ahead and allow.
3. A command prompt window will open. Copy and paste the following into the command-prompt and hit enter.
pnputil /enum-drivers > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\drivers.txt"
4. After the command runs there will be a file on your desktop named drivers.txt.

There is a problem with one of the printer drivers, probably either Canon or Xerox.
Start with uninstalling all Canon drivers.
Restart the machine when done.
Next, try to install KB5016683 only and report the result.
If it fails attach the file cbs.log to your next reply.

Uninstalled Canon printer drivers and installed KB5016683 Friday. Server got rebooted same night.
Still same error, 0x87D00324(-2016410844).

Open an elevated PowerShell window.
Copy and paste following command into it, then press enter.
Get-PrinterDriver | Format-List | Out-File .\pd.txt

This will create a file called pd.txt in the folder C:\Windows\System32.
Attach that file to your next reply.

There is a problem with the printer driver "Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4".
Does that work or not ?

You may re-install the Canon printer drivers.

Should that be uninstalled just as the canon drivers?
Not yet. Please report if it works normal or not.

Uninstall the printer "Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4", restart the machine and install the printer "Microsoft XPS Document Writer v4" again.
Does it work normal now ?
