My Windows 2019 Server (Standard) keeps failing for Cumulative Update KB5040340 with error 0x800f0983. I have already tried the following steps to fix it with no luck: 1. Windows Update Troubleshooter 2. SFC scan (did not find any integrity violations) 3. Windows Component reset (manual rename of catroot2 and Softwaredistribution folders, restart windows update, BITS and crypt services with CMD) 4. DISM Online repair/restorehealth (DISM Failed error 0xd0000034) 5. DISM Online repair/restorehealth with 2019 Std ISO as Source (/limited. Failed source not found. error 0x800f0983) Please find ComponentScanner and CBS logs attached. Please let me know if you need anything else. Please copy this file to your desktop. Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop. The file will likely be too large to upload here, if so please upload to a file sharing service. Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline Please post me the link to the file

And the update KB5040430 installed successfully too! :) Seriously, I cant thank you enough. Please see SFCFix and CBS logs attached. Is there any documentation on how I can learn how to analyse and fix these issues myself? Attachments CBS.zip 3.5 MB · Views: 1 SFCFix.txt 4.5 KB · Views: 1

Sadly we have no publicly available documentation for how to fully analyse and repair update problems, though we do have a course available for those who wish to learn so that they can help in the forums. Learn How to Fix Windows Update: The Sysnative Windows Update Academy I don't know whether we're presently taking on new students though.
